If they will sell their current captain to their biggest rival for 30m then sure it might happen.

But they won't and in reality he's not that great that we will wait for him. That Wharton kid looked better than him anyway in the Carabao Cup.

It's like Barkley all over again.... Gallagher is a player easily moved on from......

'Energetic, un-exceptional midfielder' is a 2-a-penny thing in football.

The point of the list wasn't about who is or isn't first XI; it's a squad assessment.

If we sign (eg) sell Gil and then sign a winger who pushes one of the starters down the pecking order then all the better.

If we make Werner perm; then he can equate to a Gil replacement; otherwise Gil would be a player that still needs replacement.

I already noted Rich. I highly doubt the other two will move (I wouldn't want them too either).

Front line def still a question for me too. If we need 6 attackers to rotate and provide options:

Son
Johnson
Kulu (is he a 10 now?)
Richy
Solomon

?Werner if we take the option

So, we need to decide on Richy staying/going or being replaced and Werner being permanent or not. Then whether Deki becomes more part of the CM rotation or not.

Personally, I think only one of Richy and Werner is likely to win themselves a spot in the rotation for the future and the other needs to be replaced with a star quality forward.
For next season-

ATTACK:
Keep 2 and sell/ let go 2, out of these 4: Werner, Richarlison, Solomon, Gil
Loan: Veliz
Buy 2: a CF and LW

MIDFIELD:
Sell Højbjerg; keep the rest. No need to buy imo as I rate Maddison/Bentancur/Sarr/Biss/GLC +Kulu if needed. Skipp isn't great but HG so can stay as squad player.

DEFENCE:
Buy: 1 CB
Sell: Sessegnon

GK:
Buy: 1 back-up keeper

Sarr is HG next season, so move Skipp on imo.

Solomon just got here so I doubt we move him on that fast... I'd be tempted if we could. Gil is done here. Agree on the Veliz and likely Scarlett loans. If Solomon can't be moved then we only keep one of Richy/Werner.

I'm ok with GLC sticking around but if we do sell him then he needs replacing. Skipp can stick around but we need to upgrade on him. I think they might even bring his replacement this January whilst he's still here.

Agree on CB but we need another FB that can really play the inverted role. Ideally, one that can cover left or right.

Not sure about that.... Whoever leaves needs to be replaced. Lots of games again next season.
True, but I don't think we need a like for like replacement.

If we buy two quality forwards, we'll have so much depth in attack that Kulu would be available as a midfielder if needed (and to be fair... you suggested this a few months ago and have been proven right as he's been effective there).

The only criticism could be that our midfield has too many attacking players and not enough DMs, but that suits Ange-ball. I mean there's a reason he's barely played Hojberg despite our injury crisis!
