I'm actually a big fan of the idea of a Kalvin Phillips loan with option in the £20-25m range. It's a gamble with his injury record but the Euros version of him was an absolute fucking beast, I wanted him then but figured he was destined for City or Liverpool with that amount of talent. He would have 5 months with us to prove his form and fitness or we can send him back.
He is more a 6 than an 8 but would free bentancur to rotate with Sarr in the box to box role with Biss and Phillips rotating at 6. I question if he would want to come sit on our bench instead of city's though to be honest, although feel we still provide a much clearer pathway to regular football than City.

Who's the two back-ups for Maddison? Lo Celso (who is definitely not a long term solution and will be off soon) who's the other?*

As I keep saying, Eze can and does play as an 8. He can also play as a 10 or a wide AM/forward. We'd be buying someone who can play 3/4 positions and be better than players we've already got in a couple of them.

* Don't fucking say Kulusevski.

Just because you keep saying it doesn’t make it true. Playing these positions for RH Palace is not the same as playing in these positions in our system. Maddison played RW for Leicester a fair few times last season, he will never play wide for us just as Eze wouldn’t if we signed him. Just as our no 8 needs to cover a lot of ground and be a workhorse, something as good as Eze is he is not that type of player and £70m is a lot for Maddison competition

It is true though.

No, and I have acknowledged his off ball work would need to improve (but that’s coachable) but he has played a very similar remit, has done very creative attributes (makes and scores chances).

As I also it depends on the opponent and application of our tactics. They don’t stay exactly the same for every opponent.

Unlike Maddison, Eze is actually pretty good as a wide forward, and has a better 1v1 ability than Maddison. More importantly, he’s better than anyone else we have as a wide forward in terms of dribbling at face on defenders and then finding a creative end product.

No it’s not , how arrogant are you to state your opinion as fact 😂

You can't compare an understudy with Maddison. Unless by some incredible luck, Spurs will get a understudy for him that's as good. Apart from the obvious de Bruyne, there was no better OCM in the EPL.
Yes, Eze is a very good player but he also goes missing. And Spurs already have Bentancur & Sarr for the CM spot, so I doubt L & L will splash out £60-70m+ for an understudy CM/OCM.
Yes, Eze can play wide but so can Richarlison, Son, Johnson, Werner, Solomon, Kulusevski and Gil. If Werner turns does well I doubt Spurs will be looking at another right-footed WF.
But of those players who can play wide do. You think any are better than eze?

Exactly what we need a good dribbler for low block oppo. Neither Kulu or BJ are that great at close control dribbling.

Last couple of CP games (very similar remit to Maddison for us):

You're still just bogged down in shirt numbers.... He's playing as an attacking MF alongside two less attacking, more attritional players. Likening him to Maddison is doing little more than furthering my argument.

The simple fact of all this is that Ange sees a need in our squad that he thinks Gallagher is the answer to...... Eze doesn't fit that need as he has a different skill-set.

In terms of type of player, we are so blatantly playing:

DM
B2B ------ AM

We don't play with 2 'Maddisons'.

.......Whether you rate Eze more than GLC or Kulusevski isn't the discussion here.

Replacing GLC in the squad with Eze is one thing.

Replacing PEH with Eze upsets the balance of the squad and is counter logical to how Ange is setting us up.

I would be surprised if Ange would go for Eze especially at the price touted about 60-70 mil , if he's going to throw that amount at one player then hopefully he'd go for a more versatile (world class potential ) player like Xavi Simons. This kid is a generational talent like a KDB , he's comfortable on either wing or as an 8 or 10 which would afford Ange a fascinating amount of tactical tweaks.

It's obvious now - despite of what some claimed at the start of the season - that so far Angelos prefer inverted wingers. So Spurs will need another left-footed WF (to compete with Kulusevski).
Gil, however talented he is, doesn't seem to be cut out for the EPL.
I'd choose my WRF from this list.
I am not saying this position right now should be top priority but it should be addressed this summer if not in the January TW.
Sávio I know is owned by the City group so will most probably end up at Man City.
Pedro Neto is injury prone and Spurs have players out injured so I not that keen on him but he's EPL proven.
Bakayoko looks like a very talented prospect but he's be costly and lately few Eredivisie players have made much impact in the EPL.

Johan Bakayoko (PSV)
Pedro Neto (Wolves)
Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad)
Matìas Soulè (Juventus)
Sávio (Troyes)

Prospects
Tyler Dibling (Soton)
Roony Bardghji (København)
Diego Moreria (Benfica)
Geovany Quenda (Sporting L.)
Luis Guilherme (Palmeiras)
Estevão Willian (Palmeiras)
Lorran (Flamengo)
William Gomes (São Paulo)

Minus injuries/international duty, our midfield options are Sarr, Bentancur, Bissouma, Højbjerg, Skipp, Gio, Maddison and Kulusevski (albeit as a last resort option for Maddison).

Højbjerg needs improving on, Gio will likely be moved on due to constant injury issues and his contract ending soon. Skipp, whilst not being good enough is homegrown/club trained so I imagine he’ll be here for the foreseeable as a squad player.

Unless there’s a clear and obvious player available for SENSIBLE money this window, we should just either look at bringing in someone on loan to provide cover or stick with what we’ve got until the summer. Get rid of both Gio and Højbjerg then and get the proper replacements in when the market is better.

Depending on how Richarlison gets during the rest of the season, we might have to bring in a striker. We can’t have an ageing Son and a seemingly forever out of touch Richy as our only centre forwards (not counting Werner because I believe he’s being used as a winger).

I’d like to see us end up with at Eze at CM and Giménez at ST.

Feel like we’d be one hell of a team then.
