Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Injury aside; being a starter for 5 months in a C-grade league vs making regular decidive sub appearances in the EPL is hardly gonna sway the Croatia manager as to whether he includes Perisic in their Euro squad or not.... In fact the latter would still be MORE appealing in my eyes as he'd be relatively fresh AND in form. win/win

The only thing that prevents him from moving to Split at some point is a failure to recover.

You are welcome to make your own analysis and express your own opinions

But don't expect posters to always agree with you !

Up to Split, I think they want to ensure he signs for them. I'm sure we end up by paying 100% of his salary until January and the excess over the wages in he contract he signs for Split in January anyway.

If they want anymore salary than that paid, Spurs don't release him to sign for Split in January so they risk losing him.

They know they won't miss out on him.

he's always said he wants to finish his career back home.

Most links from journos are bollo ..... until they report a player has actually signed ...... so that's not reliable links either.

So I choose to assess the credibility of other info until better info comes

So you haven't read anything stating that he's leaving....? You're just doing your own 'detective' work?

(Not knocking you; just trying to ascertain the credibility behind this rumour and if it amounts to anything other than fan-talk.)

the 'to go' list can change through a season. however,

lloris, forster, austin, dier and perisic are all out of contract come the 30th of june 2024

rodon, tanganga, spence, reguilon and ndombele will all return (unless the buy clause is activated where applicable)

we will also have devine, scarlett and parrott returning

the u21s like dorrington, phillips and veliz might already be part of the first team by then

if we sign a centre back in january for example, will that block a pathway. same with a centre forward

we should really be looking to sign a solid keeper in january if you ask me, as opposed to waiting until the summer to fill that hole. I know that sounds crazy considering we have 5 keepers in the squad. three will leave though, as I said above, leaving vicario and whiteman. it might be better to settle a new keeper in during the season?
Goalkeepers are my least concern right now.
Normally, goalkeepers don't need as much time to settle in as outfield players do.
Vicario as 1st choice with Lloris & Forster as understudies is enough; even if Lloris leaves in January (and Austin becomes 3rd choice). So no need to overpay for a goalie in January, unless a really good deal comes up.
Ashley Phillips is already part of the 1st team squad. But even Angelos said that Spurs are thin at CB, so getting Lloyd Kelly - who can play both as CB & LB - could be a good move, particularly if Spurs are still are among the top teams in the EPL

Oh shit! I sense a touch of sarcasm.... I just laid down 50 quid on what I assumed was a dead cert. :mourweird:
Well the dig at him about staying fit, whilst true to a good degree, seems a little unwarranted when it's in response to a clickbait article from a dubious source.

Fair's fair, I'm sure if someone made a sly dig at Levy or Enic based on a nothing article from footyinsider247365toinfinityandbeyond then you'd be amongst the first to call it out.

Think you're taking 2 entirely un-serious posts from myself a little too seriously here.

Regarding Perisic: it seems like there's a good chance he'll never play for us again. Contract is up in summer, and we'd surely be unlikely to extend it.

Considering we currently have the maximum non-HG players registered, is it possible to de-register him in January if we identified a transfer target to come in at LW?

I suppose if Lo Celso goes that would be another way to free up a spot.

A new squad list will need to be submitted to PL after the end of January transfer window, so up to Spurs who is included.

But Spurs still need to pay salaries until end of their contracts.

Depends who we want to sign in January as to who we want to move on to create a place in the squad for him, but if its Lloyd Kelly who is HG, it would be easy to not name Whiteman as our 4th GK (probably loaning him out) and include Lloyd. Or move on any other player whether HG or not

But if a non HG signing wanted it would be probably be easiest to move on Lloris, Perisic, Dier (all of whom have contracts expiring June 2024) or Lo Celso or Hojbjerg (both linked with moves in summer, provided we got an adequate fee for either).

With Gil soon to be fit again and hopefully given a chance by Angelos, Spurs will have 6 players (Son, Solomon, Richarlison, Kulusevski, Johnson) who can play wide; so WFs are really not urgent in January - unless a really good player become avaiable (no, not Jadon Sancho - due to his attitude).
And then there is Yaya Santiago who's playing really well at the moment.
