Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

.....I don't see how you can separate the two. If you're putting in insanely late non-challenges to punish a player then you already have no control over whether or not it results in an injury.

If you're playing crap enough that a player has enough time to juggle the ball whilst they think what to do with it next, then that's on you; it's not some mortally offensive footballing insult..

It was 2-0... Not some 10-0 humiliation being rubbed in their faces.

No; but only by luck............

I'm not talking about "insanely late non-challenges" though. I am probably thinking more along the lines of an Erik Lamela style bit of shithousery which was usually a little bit nasty but didn't do any damage.

If an opposition player did it to us, we'd want that player to be given a bit of non-injurious afters. That's the standard I go by.

He's also praised our business in the Summer and said that Levy backed him over Maddison, unlike every other manager before him...
While saying we need a center back which we didnt get. He only just started the job obviously he's not going to criticize Levy Levy also received praise in the past from managers especially Poch, doesnt mean that they weren't disenfranchised

It's just a thowback to the cloggier days on English football.... Sunday league bullshit.

Why the fuck should exhibiting skill be fair game for 'punishment'?

........And where are you drawing a line as to what degree of 'fancy' play constitutes being 'offensive'?

.......All those old clips of Ronaldino that we 'wow' over on YT? ......You'd want to see his heels raked? ...Or have something "nasty" done to him?

What Richy did wasn't even particularly egregious or arrogant.

Haggle or not two signings are done, I'd be very happy if that was done for the men's team already.

Applause for you....... :slow-clap:

(You do realise that differs from not a single other person on here, right..... Right?)

Seriously though....... Let's not pretend it was a "yay" from you on behalf of the women's team. It's obvious why you posted that....... And yet the situ's are not comparable in any meaningful way. You got the flippant reply your post deserved.

Based on what I saw tonight, they are worth the watch.

Koopmeiners didn't play either tonight.

They were a great watch until a couple of years ago when fatigue and the constant churn of players seemed to slow them down a little, prior to that Gasperini was a bit like an Italian Bielsa, man for man all over the pitch and whatnot. Not watched much this season, maybe Gasperini's rediscovered his mojo?

Porro - Romero - ven de Ven - Udogie

Honestly, he's got some balls! If I was 21 and really starting to develop my game, I'd stay at Genoa lol

Fair enough, let's move on.

Thank you sir.

How do you know?

It was a yay from me, they got their two signings done and I definitely meant what I said about being happy if it was the mens team. Just completing the signing in time for Burnely would be a start.

And if you wonna take the piss out of me for something I never said like this, I will come back at you like this twat. Who probably has a glory hole with a picture of Levy over it something like this

:levylol:

As this is not challenging what I was saying at all, to me, this is just trying to take the piss.

Going off on a player, just saying I think we could have got it done sooner as Ange asked for transfers to be done as soon possible months ago.

If we get him in the fifth day, we get him in the fifth, but it means he will miss the cup game and we may not have any centre backs playing. Yes their are hints that VdV may come back, but would you risk for him for a full game?

But then I am not huffing puffing and never was.

It was clear we was in for him way before the window started, just feel we could have had him by now, that's all.

Well let's be real, getting a CB in before the Burnley match was a stretch

Have a look at this, tell me how many teams have done deals this early so far in the TW?

I think fans like you lose all perspective of how transfers work and throw your toys out the pram thinking that we should have everything wrapped up within 3 days, not sure it works like that!

Ooh look !

Other than loan returns only one PL club, Brighton, has signed one player cost £2.5m (which many fans would regard as not first team ready).

So Spurs are one of the 19/20 PL clubs who haven't signed a player. So like most clubs.

And no reason for the hyperbole in this thread !

Worth recalling that in Jan 23, many PL clubs didn't sign anyone of note, ManU for example signed 3 loanees who proved not to be very good. Spurs signing Porro on loan with obligation to buy was a good outcome versus majority of other clubs.

Worth setting expectations against last January - Spurs signed more good players in Jan 21 (Bentancur and Kulusevski) - just 2 good players, better than any other top 6 club in the last 5 years.

Chelsea last year distorted people's expectations, now everyone wants their club to get players through the door in the first week!

Who ever said anything about getting things wrapped up in three days? I never. So where did this come from?

Been plenty of players brought before a window opens, to then be announced on the first day of the window.

We can negotiate with other clubs between windows all we want, but we just can't register new players until the window, if I remember correctly.
