Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Romero will be back within the next two games. Dragusin and Van de Ven won't even have the opportunity to form a good partnership.

Especially when we already know Romero and van de Ven is one of the best partnerships in the entire league.
there’s no two better than Romero and VDV in the league but having Dragusin to rotate with these guys is what successful clubs do. I don’t think we can be as unlucky with injuries as we have been again but suspensions will creap in with Romero towards the end of the season. If Dragusin comes in and is even better than those two then we are on to a winner. Next season when we are in Europe it’s even more important to have three top centre backs to choose from.

PL clubs would have been utterly fucked without Saudi last summer to give them money. It’s going to be really interesting to see what happens next summer if there’s no buyers for players they are desperate to offload. They won’t be able to do any transfers. Maybe that’s why we are trying to do a few deals this window to strengthen the squad. Get ahead of the game.
If the Saudis are hurting for players, they can have Ndombele. There's enough takeout in Riyad to keep him onside, in more ways than one.

:king:

The Saudi League failing is good for football. Players talk, they are still human beings, soon as reputation gets around with loads of players trying to flee Saudi even the money won’t pull players over. So even if the clubs agree a price the player will say no.

That could fuck Chelsea who will be hoping to flog their overpaid rubbish over the next few seasons.

The Don and Levy offering to help?? beautiful…

“But by the end of January 2024, 777 Partners will have had an answer to another key question with regards to one of its football assets: Genoa.

Having purchased Genoa back in September 2021 for a sum of around €150m, according to Reuters, Italy’s oldest club were relegated at the end of the 2021/22 season before bouncing back with promotion in the 2022/23 campaign.

When 777 Partners acquired 99.9% of Genoa's capital, a statement that accompanied the purchase of the club, without highlighting specific financial details, stated that the new owners would “assume certain related liabilities.”

A chunk of those liabilities come in the form of a tax bill due to the Italian tax authorities. According to investigative journalism website Josimar, €106m was due to the taxman.

At the end of October a deal was struck between Genoa and the Italian tax authorities that would reduce the indebtedness of the club to the taxman, reportedly reducing the tax burden by some 65%. The deal would see repayments spread over the next decade.

But that agreement has to be ratified by the Court of Genoa, with a decision to arrive before the end of January. If the Court reject the agreement that was reached it would create significant problems for the prospective Everton owners and the club, which would, according to Josimar, face the threat of bankruptcy.

Sources close to 777 Partners claim that the Genoa owners don’t anticipate any issues with the decision, with the renegotiation done do achieve more favourable terms for the ownership having acquired the tax liabilities from the previous owners of the club.”

I wonder if this ties into their purchase of Everton and our interest in Branthwaite in any way.

There is a reason they have to bribe players to go there, their average foreign players get paid the highest bracket in the PL then on top no tax makes it ludicrous amount..... No one wants to go their in general even on holiday .... i wonder if they would even fill the stadiums if they made it free to go?

What what I've watched Gimenez isn't anything special.

What are his outstanding traits?

Seems to be good at pressing, quick, and capable of playing with his back to the goal. He's scoring a goal every 70 minutes this season.

I'm not going to pass myself off as a talent evaluator here. From what I've seen of him (little) I'd be excited if he turned up at WHL and disappointed if he turned up at the library. Wouldn't spend £60M on him, but seems like maybe buying Suarez a year sooner perhaps.

I’d probably only go over there for the two years if I were single. Taking a family would be hard work but on your own to make all that money. It has to be attractive. I remember back to the late noughties when loads of people went over to work in dubai for the tax breaks and it’s no different. If anything it’s an easy life as a footballer.
