Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So this news might have convinced me more that things could have changed. I didn’t expect us to bid higher. Would that have happened in the past? I’m not sure.
Thinking of it, we may not even have spent more than we *genuinely* wanted/needed to at the beginning. Cause we always go in low, even if we raise it a bit at the end, we may still end up with a good deal once all said & done.

Seem to recall a few early reports saying Genoa wanted 30 mil, but we only wanted to spend 20 ish. At the end Genoa got their 30, not 35.

If Danny Boy sanctioned the deal, it's cause it works for him & the club. I'll give him his dues, he knows a thing or two about a player's value. He bargains that hard so that when we're forced to up our offer, as was the case here, we actually keep within the margins he'd set at the beginning of the negotiations. Bargaining 101 a la Daniel.

So all the European and South American players in Saudi Arabia that want to leave the Middle East because of the lack of atmosphere and low attendance is just pure lies?

I reckon the standard of football and the horrendous human rights conditions are probably more of an issue mate.

I'm not saying atmosphere is all that matters to a player and what league he prefers. However, I believe it has an impact to some degree, relative to the player.

No one is joining the Bundesliga over Premier League for atmosphere unless the team in the Premier League is willing to pay you with a hot dog and a handshake.

You join the Bundesliga for two reasons.

1) you see it as a stepping stone to get a bigger move elsewhere.

2) Bayern want you

It's funny that he rejected the over us because be has values.

If one takes off the Spurs tinted glasses for a while and put aside the fragile ego one will see this deal more clearly.
He’s not, as far I know, a boyhood Spurs fan. And he’s got offers from 2 big clubs – and one of them, Bayern, being one of the biggest and most attractive clubs in the world. One can’t blame him for taking his time before making his decision.
But yes in the end he did choose Spurs over Bayern.
But the doomsayers got exposed

So I have about web 22 pages open as I'm trying to get a PS Portal.
Also on about 9.30pm on here last night, then see Sky Sports Transfer center reporting Dragusin has chosen us.
If I'd not seen that, I could have wasted 20 pages of this thread and missed out on a Portal and maybe lost some more hair in the process.

Daniel, get the medical done fucking quickly, don't piss around, don't move the goal posts, don't ignore any warning signs.

Can't understand why we gave Genoa more money if deal was already agreed and up to Dragusin to decide where he goes.

Surely offered Dragusin a better deal? Rather than Genoa.
I posted earlier this morning and yesterday that Genoa are in financial difficulty and owe the taxman 106m€. They’ve agreed a discount with the taxman that allows them to pay only 65% of the debt but over the next x years. But the payment structure is still to be approved by the Italian courts.

Bayern offered 23m€ plus 7.5m€ in add ons, we offered 25m€ plus 5m€ add ons, so they only offered .5m€ more than us in total but 2m€ less right now.

Genoa would have certainly welcomed more money now imo👍👍
