Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Nah, he's got more about him than pace. He has decent technique, can hold the ball up and hits a shot from different angles. He was a starter for France in the last world cup for a reason.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but he only started vs Tunisia in France's third group game...which they lost and RKM was (probably) the worst player on the pitch.

Also cost France the trophy vs Argentina with an uber shocking miss at the death.

You question any PSG fan who knows his footy, they'll tell you his technique is proper average and he can't hold the ball up.

Never was a 90mil player and sure isn't worth us spending 55 big ones on him in 6 months...nor giving him 165k a week til then.

But Levy. But your darling Ange.

Agree- our play style is crazy, and likely leads to more sprints without the ball per player per 90 than any other team. I wonder what the numbers would look like.

The thing is, you want your defense and midfielders to do something- having the front three press all the time and then also be expected to lead dynamic attacks is a recipe for surefire exhaustion. You need all players to contribute towards running and pressing.

The whole game under Ange seems sped up and compacted beyond what is comfortable. We have attacker exhausting themselves running all the time and defenders constantly making goal-saving sprints. These peak fitness moments and lack of rotation have to be having a negative effect on player fitness- we can't seriously be expecting them to outperform the league average in km run on a regular basis, can we?
See what Vitor Pereira's done with Wolves since he's taken over, have a read of that article on Sky today.

Man's still playing attacking football, players pressing high, FB spending most their time in the opposition half etc. But, in contrast to O'Neil or the aggressive fat bastard in our dugout, he's understood that you need a cohesive plan for whenever you lose the ball. O'Neil deserves some slack cause he's still a young manager and also he didn't have 300 mil to spend...(sorry cultists)

1st Clip - receives between the lines, elite level first touch, drives forwards draws a yellow card worthy foul and dangerous FK.
2nd Clip - Pressures the ball, wins it and starts a dangerous attack... perfect fit with the way we play.
3rd clip - Outrageous confidences and touch to break the press and perfect through ball to create high xG chance.
4th Clip - Nice 1 touch hold up play

Amazing how differently we all see things. Sure, he narrowly missed a header and tight angle finish and he's hasn't been the most consistent finisher at PSG but all that was one game. He terrorized that team and we'd kill to have an attacking player do those things for us atm.
One game. Versus mighty Girona. At home. Which PSG won in added time thanks to a Gazzaniga og.

You watched his other appearances?

I can't stand Luis Enrique, he's an absolute cunt and a proper overrated manager, and PSG are a joke club...but RKM is on the bench most games for a reason.

Now you who's so keen on small samples, show us that 1v1 with Martinez in the WC final and tell me again RKM is that big of an upgrade on BJ or Richy...even friggin Timo.

By all accounts RKM has been crap for PSG. But it is PSG. In the games I saw him for France he seemed a lot more effort than quality. Bit of a roadrunner.

But we need depth and he seems to have a solid fitness record and might fit the league/system and be useful .. would be a decent loan.
Tell PSG it's a loan with no option or obligation. And they cover minimum 50% of his wages. They try and negotiate, tell them to stick RKM where the sun doesn't shine.

He comes in and does well til Summer, offer 30 odd mil and 100k a week tops. You don't pay any more than that for B-listers.

Mbeumo, Kvara, Nico Williams...that's who you sign for big money.

But Levy.

Fuck RKM. Nice kid and I feel for his situation at PSG but nah. Let West Ham or Palace have him.

Give Brentford the 60-80 mil they'd ask for Mbeumo. Better...give them Johnson + 30 mil...double whammy. Then give Mbeumo wages like proper serious big clubs do.

You're welcome.

I doubt Mbeumo is the profile we are looking for to add to our wide lineup, as like brennan he is like a wide forward rather than a pacey winger, and well we already have BJ in that mold like him or not

Happily would find a replacement for Bissmouma. As a 6, I’d rather play Bissouma there than any of those options, today. I could see my feelings changing as Sarr and Gray develop, but I don’t think either is ready yet.

Our system asks the 6 to push forward while also pushing everyone else forward. We’d need a Bissouma on the ball, Sarr engine, and VDV speed to have a 6 that works in today’s system. I’d rather we actually sat the 6 deeper and told them to sit rather than push forward, more than getting a new 6.

I guess my bigger point here is that no new 6 is going to work here. We need to adjust tactically and then make a determination if Bissouma is right or wrong.
Biss is shit. And not a serious athlete. Get rid asap. Here's your determination.

Chelsea is probably the closest recent example. Not plucky underdogs, one of the riches football clubs on the planet. At the midpoint of last season Chelsea were 7W-4D-8L for 25 points, 11th place with a +2 GD. Compare Spurs this season 7W-3D-9L for 24 points, 11th place and +13GD. And Chelsea had built a much bigger squad so were less vulnerable to injury crises and dud recruits. But it was still a painful rebuild for them. They're doing much better this season and have good momentum and age profile going into 2025/26. If Poch had stayed on I'd imagine they'd be doing just as well.

Spurs will build momentum in the second half of this season and be much stronger next season.
you forgot to mention Chelsea also spent over 1 billion on new players......... :gallashmm:
