Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Fcuk fcuk fcuk wingers.

We need a striker and defensive midfielder of more than decent quality.

Incredible how hard it is for people to see our areas of weakness.

People talking Yamal as though a player even of his quality would rectify our shortcomings.
So, I take it you're not pleased with Solanke? Or you mean to replace Richarlison/Son? You don't like Lankshear even though he just broke his duck?

You don't think we have enough CDM types already? Gray is almost rotting away from lack of game time at his natural position, we payed 40m for him, and you'd like to buy another CDM?

Not sure if you've been in the match threads lately but I'm pretty sure the main complaint right now, as it has been pretty much all season, is that we are direly in need of quality wingers. And I'm in agreement with that.

January you don’t buy other top teams best players, unless you paying top dollar in wages and salary which is not our modus operandi. So likely signings in January are bit part players from other teams for depth in a couple of areas.

It’s a bit of a shame, as I reckon we have decent depth in most positions but not all. With a couple of decent but not spectacular signings in Jan, we are well placed to buying a couple of superstars in the summer that take us to the next level without worrying about depth.

doubt we are signing wingers, we have Werner for the rest of the season.

There's also odobert who has only appeared 3 times for us since summer and Yang-min who is primarily a RW

Son
Werner
Odo
Yang-min
BJ
Moore

we are not adding a 7th

That list is a huge issue.

Son - getting older, probably one more season left with us and maybe not a winger for this system. Despite that still brilliant on his day.

Werner - no where near good enough and probably going back in Jan or Summer

Odoburt - unproven

Yang-hyuk - unproven

Moore - unproven, we can’t burden a 17 year old with fixing us.

Johnson - good goalscorer but general play is poor.

We need one elite winger who fits Ange’s system. Someone who can retain possession in tight spaces, press hard and link well. Hence why we where linked with Neto.

Considering the way it's all panned out with the roster, minutes, and such, it's really incredible to think where we might be right now had we spent 40m on Neto or another of his type winger rather than Archie Gray.

I like Archie Gray but if we had Neto instead we seriously might be 2nd in the table right now. Levy really should reflect on that.

Are wingers aren’t of the standard we need. Because we press high its such a big issue for us, weakens us both offensively and defensively.

No issue getting Bergvall, Gray, Vuskovic etc. but it feels like we are buying a squad for the manager of the club in 2-3 years time. That’s fine we also need something for now.

I was just thinking the same thing- the way this roster is shaped, it's really clearly focused on young talent that can all mature in 2-3 seasons time. Players like Romero and Son won't be able to be a part of that because their contract and careers will see them elsewhere by then.

Another striker is essential.

You can bet your house we will buy the players we don't need, ahead of those we do.

Not in January but if Ipswich go down then in the summer Delap has to be a must sign. He’s going to be quality and we need to get in there before he ends up somewhere else.

Makes too much sense so won’t happen. We will sign someone from abroad who we can’t register for Europe for 15-20m. He will play four or five times and then be loaned out.

Our fans will go crazy when he controls a ball once in a pre season friendly against FC Grimballdalen of the Austrian 5th division.

It's a nonstarter but I'm convinced that we need to pay whatever it cost in January and buy Mark Guehi..We all know we 'lose' Romero and Guehi plays both side of the centre passes well if not spectacularly and right now he is better than the Argentina. He also seems a top character. With an unfamiliar partner last night in a hostile environment I could not help but compare him to Dragusin and Davis in Turkey.

Romero out and Guehi in would be a decent result.

We aren’t Brighton though, we are Spurs. By all means we can do that here and there but we need a proper transfer budget buying players who will contribute now.
I understand the buy for today philosophy but I look at the number one buy for today proponent, Man U & prefer the future star philosopy of clubs like Brighton. The trick would be to retain the players & not change the playing style with every manager change.
