Yes we know you disagree. You seem very enthusiastic about Lange. My point on who is the better keeper will be told by time AGE in comparative terms means zero people develop at diffrent rates I've seen both of the players shot stopping and Keeley is superior. Right now he's better. Second it was still and remains a 12 million spend that was dumb. Nothing about Langes overall work is particularly impressive other than the crying that was unprecedented.
I mean; that was the exact game-plan that Ange voiced when he first arrived........ Expressing that he was completely aligned with it and that he too desired a squad of young coachable players.
The lashing out at Lange and the scouting system is just a bit bratty.

I wouldn't go so far as to say enthusiastic. I think he's fine, that the club's strategy of building around top young talents scouted in a data-forward way is fine, and if that strategy led by Lange were given proper resources I would be confident in positive results, as he achieved at Villa.
People who know a lot more about football than either of us disagree.
As I've said elsewhere, if ONE single youth team guy blows up into someone we desperately wish we still had after we gave up on them, all of the peanut gallery cries about our youngsters deserving a chance get much stronger.
But with a MASSIVE sample size that has not happened one time, and the judgements of every manager and technical director that these are fringe PL players at the very best continues to be proven correct over and over again.

As an American where the Moneyball shit is more entrenched into our sports, please trust me when I tell you that this data-driven stuff is not a competitor or challenge to cheap, unambitious ownership but a huge HUGE ally.

That doesn't make Lange or Levy good or bad, it's all in the details and the resources committed, but the process has changed.

It's an okay film. It's not about the merits or not of data in player analysis. All tools have a place. But soccer is not baseball it won't win leagues it can unearth the occasional player flying under the radar, but it isn't is the magic bullet some think because we do not aspire to merely flip for profit and survival Levy claims we want to win the league and ECL. To be clear I completely agree with you.
But being data-intelligent helps and is a valuable guide when attached to a project with the proper sporting knowledge and ambition, ala FSG at Liverpool.
