Again, what was it that you think was worth that outlay? He was hopeless in most games. I'm asking for your opinion as to why you like him so much and why you think it was a good signing.

Elite talent is often not revealed at 19/20. Tel has done more at 20 than these three world class forwards and we could add many more to the list.
The same can be said for a lot of players, very very few get anywhere close to accomplishing what those 3 did, also, he was in Egypt for a matter of days while he was 20.
Nothing Tel has shown screams elite talent. Like he doesn't seem to be particularly strong at anything. And because we all knew Son was leaving, they ought to have went for a replacement that had been there and done it on a bigger stage, consistently. With both of their wages and Son's fee, as well as what we paid for Tel, we could've got a top player to come in and replace our best attacking player. Bit now we're lacking. It seems very short sighted and one of those that of we didn't pay such a high loan fee, it probably wouldn't have been made permanent. Just sunk cost fallacy, same as Gio.
Nothing Kane did at 20 screamed elite talent.

The problem with this is that what *TEL* did at 17 screamed elite talent, he was one of the most hyped prospects in the world.
And we've waited, and waited, and waited, and those further steps and refinements haven't come.
Tel's level for 20 is impressive. His trajectory from 17-20 has been flat though. If it stays flat he's not a Top 6 level player.
He was 17/18 when he had his breakout season.
At 18/19 he was even better but still struggling for minutes.
At 19/20 he had a broken season where he joined us half way through.
So he has had continual progress from 16 to 19 and one wasted season where he changed leagues and joined a dysfunctional spurs team in freefall.
Not quite sure your narrative fits the facts.
Frank is also the forward whisperer and has turned unknown players into household names - Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney, Mbuemo, Wissa…

Sometimes you're Bryan Mbuemo and sometimes you're Sergi Canos, onetime Barca and Liverpool starlet who was Brentford's record signing at one time in the Championship at 19, was a useful player for them there and thought to be one of their most valuable commodities, then just was overmatched in the PL, Frank's focus shifted elsewhere, and a bigger club record was spent on Kevin Schade to move the project forward.
Canos now plays for Valencia. A quality professional, but not what was once billed.
It's not over for Tel at this level, but from what I have seen his compatriot Odobert is about to have him relegated to the bench.
Valencia might end up Tel’s level. We don’t know. But the only reason to suggest it is more likely than elite is because there are many more players at the Valencia level than the elite level, not because of anything Tel has or hasnt done.

Your overextension of "Tel is a very young and talented player who still has a lot of possibilities" into "nothing that we see with our eyes is relevant to the outcome" is dumb, but whatever, this whole thing is a silly argument.
All of these guys need a proper 10 unlocking defenses for them, that's where the focus should be atm.

how can someone tell you why they think tel is a talent? hes done nothing for them to reference. anyone that has half a clue about football can watch him and see theres fuck all there, which is why most fancy odobert to be the better player as he at least has a silkyness to him when hes on the ball and has two feet. tel has nothing to shout about, they cant name you one positive about his game....oh he tries hard...whopdeedooo. how about looking like you have vision, intelligence, a silkyness on the ball where you look like an actual footballer...na hes got none of that.

Doesn't look capable of changing a game, I don't see any standout skillset that made him a £40m player. The fact that Bayern were willing to renegotiate a few down, for this potential superstar is damning.
He might turn out to be good, but nothing I've seen of his, and what Bayern fans have seen, indicates that he's going to be a special player.
As you say, at least Odobert can beat a man and looks dangerous. Tel, 90% of the time looked lost. He was signed because they paid too much for his loan fee. Nothing more.

He can't be the sporting director of a top 6 team. He hasn't relationships, doesn't know agents ecc.
Lange can scout young players, but then you should sign Paratici to be your sporting director and build the team.
