Last few pages of this thread are interesting. Some healthy debate.
In terms of the performance vs results.
Anyone who is looking for performances under JM is going to be disappointed. I don't buy his retort of scoring 100 goals with RM etc. The talent he had available with that squad was unbelievable.
JM is a results manager. The football will be dire but results normally go his way. However when they don't he doesn't have anything to fall back on. There are many fans of Spurs who like the playing style to be a certain way i.e. The spurs way. These fans will find it difficult viewing with JM.
Poch had a certain pattern of play and recently moved away from it and paid a hefty price.
We are at a crossroads as a club. Liverpool have the balance right at the moment between performance and results. Only thing that is common at the moment are the players and until the players are motivated and buy into the club vision we are going to be a club in limbo.
The biggest issue at the moment is the club has no vision. Stemming from board level down to the staff and then the players.
For me JM is a short term solution. He won't see out his contract with us. He will do whatever he can with what he has but I don't think we will see the genius football manager that JM has been seen to be previously. It'll be the petulant version and things may go south very quickly which will make the decision of the next manager interesting.
Will levy start a new project with an up and coming manager?
There's no doubt I want JM to do well, but that's only because he is in charge of my club. That doesn't mean he is going to have everyone on board - fans and players alike. The Ndombele thing is a good example of that and some fractures are starting to appear IMO. Personally I think Levy is hoping JM will shift the deadwood, but I can't see Levy letting him loose with the chequebook until the next manager comes in. By then he will be hoping the stadium will be paid off mostly and the new project will start. Names like Nagelsmann will become frontrunners.
That's my tuppence worth in true Mystic Meg style.
