What's up with this desperation? They could've easily waited until the summer to sort it out. On the other hand, if he's just a generic stopgap player that they're only lukewarm about whose recruitment is necessitated by Dragusin's recent injury, then he looks way too good and is way too costly for that. They must fancy the guy at least enough for them to go through all that hassle to secure him permanently. Are they planning on moving Dragusin in the summer? Unlikely.

I guess they now see Gray as a legitimate option at CB, so they're fine with a quintet of Danso-VdV-Gray-Dragusin-Davies for the next season. Makes sense, even though I don't totally agree with it.

He made Ligue 1 (French top league) team of the year in 22/23 helping Lens to 2nd place and into CL quaiifying stages and at age 26 has a good amount of experience and from his time in England as a youth and at Southampton on loan in 2019/20 he will speak English 'as a native' despite representing Austria and playing his senior career in France and Germany.

So he ticks an awful lot of boxes as a decent quality signing - and quire possibly the best or one of the best available CB in this transfer window.

How good he is, I think is up to Spurs to find out and I wouldn't assume he's Romero successor - but he might not be far off or he might be Tomori quality which is 'close but not close enough'

Certainly if we are nervous that Dragusin is out for more than a couple of weeks and Romero isn't quite back, Danso is a very solid signing - I don't think we could ask for better and his signing frees up Gray to some extent to either play LB or DM.,

TBF I wasn't all that convinced about Van de Ven until he arrived here, don't know anything about this bloke but Dragusin was meant to be the bees knees when we signed him and he turned out to be wank, so let's wait and see. Shame this wasn't done three weeks ago because now we may have to debut him in one of our most important games in years.

It is funny how Dragusin looked like a big, vicious, nasty CB when he signed, but with each passing game looks slower, shorter and younger.
 
Gone are the days we use to compete with top 6 teams for new signings.... but we are now no longer able to compete with Villa and Newcastle. Instead, we are left to fuck off Wolves...

It was just a lazy signing IMO, they knew he was a good old school defender but didn't do any forethought into how similar he is to our current centre backs. Levy just wanted him to sell him after. Would probably still be great in a team that plays a mid/low block and he's only young but is not fit for purpose one bit.
