Player Kevin Danso

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If he can play more than 12 games a season and doesn’t make basic mistakes which lose us points in a quarter of those games then he’ll be better than 23/24 Romero. Let’s not pretend we’ve seen a world class Romero at spurs this season. The first time we lost to Leicester was his fault.
Hmm ... we drew with Leicester and maybe the guys up front who missed a hatful of chances take some of the blame. We should have been out of sight before they scored.

Good luck Kevin

The cynic in me says it’s good business getting in Romeros replacement early
I do wonder what the plan is here. Was he actually on our radar at all? We have waited 31 days to get this player in. What happens to philipps, dorrington and the young Croat?
Hope this doesn’t block their path. I guess we can say good but to davies but we will still 7 CBs. Unless cuti ficks off bcos he is so behind supporting g Ange.

Is someone starting and playing well for a team that played in the CL last season, better than someone playing for Milwall?

This fan base is unbelievable.
You are missing the point totally.

No criticism of Danso. I hope he is an outstanding player.

The consideration is, was it not wiser to retain Tangana ( for various reasons ) than spend £25m on a player who, it would seem, is going to be 3 or 4th choice CB.

And if they had retained Tangana then the crisis that saw an 18 year old Midfielder at CB for months might have been abated at nil cost.

Ok fair enough - it felt like a defeat.

Of course it’s not all on one person but Romero’s mistake was basic defending. Our problem this season hasn’t been scoring goals, it’s been defending. And Romero - rather than the idea of Romero - has been poor or injured all season.

It depends on the price you put on quality. Given how many injuries we have in defence, 3/4th choice centrebacks are getting a lot of minutes. Danso is definitely worth that difference for me.

I’d rather have Gray than Tanganga at centreback.

Tanganga!! He’s torture. That’s just like saying we should have kept dier or Sanchez!!

Is he really that much better than Tanganga?

A player who was club trained, physical, committed and cares about Tottenham through ( loyalty ) and didn’t cost £25m +

I am not for a moment saying Danso is rubbish or anything of the sort. I am just wondering if he is really £25m better than Tanganga.

Before the pile on, Tanganga I’m not overly praising either. I see the limited aspects of his game. But this is 3/4 choice CB discussion here.

I like Japhet Tanganga, but I think Conte let us all down (after Mourhino gave him his debut and gave him a reasonable number of games playing at RB/LB/CB - both sides) by not playing youth or letting them out on loan to gain experience, so he wasted 2 years at Spurs at a vital time in his career when he should have been getting first team experience somewhere.

Japhet's issues might include concentration (usually sorted out by having loans playing mens football) and unlucky with injuries, so sadly I think he was right to move on when he did.

I think a better argument could be had over Ashley Phillips who has now been playing Championship level for almost 2 years now and will become Club Trained, and we could have recalled - big mobile CB with a lot of similar qualities to Danso.

I think the 25m mainly reflects the fact that Danso has played at a higher level for a few years now and is a fully developed player - Phillips might turn out to be a better player, but lacks the experience right now. So its a price for a player who is definitely ready now, whereas Phillips will probably benefit from finishing his loan this season - and then up to Ange to assess in preseason.

Wish people would learn and not judge a player from a YouTube or highlights video. You could genuinely make Danny Ings look like the English Aguero.

I suspect Dragusin's recent injury forced us to go for a more ready made 'here and now' CB rather than recall Phillips who is good but relatively inexperienced - until Romero is back Danso is probably going to be our no. 2 CB rather than before Draguson's injury we were probably looking to fill a no 4 CB position, which we could get away with a less experienced CB.

Was hoping our saviour would have a much sexier name than Kevin.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Dragusin injury is the most likely need to buy now. You would hope he was on our radar and the fact Wolves had arranged the fee made it easy.

Another year of loans for the younger CBs when Davies will be gone and in all likelihood Romero
