I was sure I read somewhere that his delivery drivers are under such pressure that they have to wear nappies.
It’s very hard to say “Levy Out” without clearly knowing what he is really directing that makes him responsible.

Clearly as (part owner) he is accountable for everything, good and bad, but only if we know he is interjecting himself negatively into responsibility roles can we really have a view on if he walks.

very little is really known about how the club is being run, and this vagueness is part of our problem as supporters, we seek information when there is none to be shared.

perhaps the Chairman has a problem delegating responsibilities and he therefore is not fit for purpose. Or perhaps he is actually very good at trusting his work force, gives them clear objectives and they are not performing, really hard to know.
Micro managing.

So what you appear to be saying is that Poch wanted a striker in the summer and Levy point blank refused but at the same time said "You can spend over £150m on players but you can't get a striker"

It doesn't make sense.
No , it doesn't make sense but nor does the theory neither manager wanted a forward. BOTH managers not wanting even one makes less sense, in fact it's virtually impossible imo.
I would imagine Levy said to Poch : " I'm not renewing Lorente's contract" or something similar and then asked Poch if he was in agreement with this. I'm sure Poch would rather have Lorente than nothing at all , why wouldn't he?
I would imagine he agreed with Levy that this was ok on condition another striker was signed , I'm sure Poch was hoping for an upgrade on an ageing, slow forward.
It does seem Levy won't pay big money for a forward and doesn't want to get burnt again after Soldado and Janssen.

Of course both managers wanted another striker/AM/CM/DM/ defenders, which manager doesn't.

Again you seem to be saying that Poch wanted a striker (he probably did) and Levy said "You can spend around £150m on other areas of the team but you can't have a striker"

It's just not credible.

Levy obviously couldn't find one or one that represented good value with potential for a profit or good resale value further down the line !

Help? What does 'not backing the manager' mean? Seriously though eh...
  1. The club buy players the manager doesn't want?
  2. The club don't buy players the fans want?
  3. The club are buying the wrong type of players?
  4. The club don't spend enough money?
  5. The club take money away from the squad?
  6. Players the club buy are too young?
  7. The club don't land the manager's targets?
Are any of those what it means....?

Maybe not backing the manager is accepting that failure is an option ?

We need a striker. We get a striker. No fucking about. Not a reactive approach, dragging things out to the last minutes and then, inevitably failing as complex transfers can’t be done in the closing hours of a window.

You can sign and announce a player now for 1 July. You can sign someone in November for January, Levy does not seem to do that. Why ?

We ain't had another effective striker for years ,
We ain't had a defensive effective midfielder for years .
No level of excuses can make that acceptable .
The running of the football side from the top is a complete fuckwit douchbag show.

Are there many examples of signing someone now for summer? Except Zyech to Chelsea?

And if we did sign a striker now, he’d not play till next season. By which point we have Kane and Son again.

And the question has to be asked yet again, which top quality prolific striker can we sign that only played when Kane is injured? “Hey Timo Werner, sign for us for £80m and £200k a week. I’m sure you’ll get between 6-10 games each season. Do we have a deal?”

Possibility for sure....watch this space between now and next season for a boardroom/ownership shake up......Levy appears a frustrating fucker looking from the outside in, but he’s a smart guy and always has a plan. There is a reason Jose is here, his track record is second to none, he’s on a very long term expensive contract and Levy acted quickly knowing Jose wasn’t going to stay available for ever. He also knows Jose needs cash to build “his” type of team capable of winning trophies, and between now and the summer that cash will be made available one way or another......

I thought it was 3.5yrs?

LeeMcl thanks for the reply but I'm no clearer about 'not backing the manager'... ?

(Maybe not backing the manager is accepting that failure is an option ?)

Not sure what you mean by this mate? Sorry.

(We need a striker. We get a striker. No fucking about. Not a reactive approach, dragging things out to the last minutes and then, inevitably failing as complex transfers can’t be done in the closing hours of a window.)

So are you saying the club isn't buying the players that the fans want, or do you mean the club isn't buying the players the manager wants?

(You can sign and announce a player now for 1 July.)

We signed and announced NDombele on the 2nd of July, not sure what you mean by this?

(You can sign someone in November for January, Levy does not seem to do that. Why ?)

Off the top of my head? Say we sign someone in November. The player then sustains an injury (or doesn't make the journey because of transport issues... Sala) in December. That's very unlucky but then, someone are we lol!
The cost of buying players early sky rockets out of the club's price range?
It worked out fine when the club bought Luka Modric

You can sign players in the last moments of the transfer window. Our club has signed many players this way and saved millions using this approach. Maybe media reports about players the club wants and actual interest sometimes blurs information here?

I'd appreciate input on this to be honest. The usual 'levy is a cunt' doesn't really get the point across as to why members are thinking this way about our club.

Edit - I missed out bold in his description....

It’s four areas as far as I can see.

1. Football Manager generation. It’s a piece of piss to sign players and to keep massive squads happy on the laptop, so why not in real life?
2. We’ve had relative success recently and this has raised expectations to a level that we’d have to be operating in a vacuum to achieve. We’d have to have no Man City or Liverpool or any of those pesky clubs that also want to win giving us any hassle. The bastards.
3. A fundamental lack of understanding that we have to get money to spend money. And the purchase of players isn’t the only pull on our purse strings.
4. The ticket prices are extremely high in comparison to other clubs. So therefore we should be better than those clubs. The same people will pay for a meal and demand it is the best thing ever if they are paying top whack, again not understanding that life just isn’t like that sometimes.

But hey, could be something else.

Plenty of other clubs have back up strikers, but apparently we cannot..
Chelsea have giroud, athletico signed morata even though they have Costa. Ffs even Bournemouth have Wilson and king, but little old us obviously not.
We all know money talks and bullshit walks, so if you pay what's needed in football these days you can have a very strong squad in both quality and depth.
But our parasite does not like this way, andthinks we are the only club that this universal football rule does not apply too...........not the smartest plan from a supposedly clever bloke imo, he and poch and Mourinho have been quoted as saying we have to do things differently, why ???
