You know what. You make some good points except for the transfers in the Poch era which is a little irrelevant to Mourinho's need for a striker. Still Im glad you replied instead of that Bangkok wierdo who thinks Levy doesnt have the final say in transfers.

The squads need for a striker was far greater than the need for Bergwijn. If what you are saying is true that there is money and we chose not to buy a striker, then its sounds like Mourinho has been promised some big things in the summer and decided on a target of a non-embarassing league position and a decent cup run and write the season off.

We went into the season with no backup to Kane apart from Sonny though, both could have been injured in the first month of the season or the 5th/6th month so we were still, theoretically short back when Poch lumped his money elsewhere.

In January Mourinho spent £30m, the same £30m that other strikers signed elsewhere for so if the need was seen as that vital, he should have used it more efficiently for the here and now needs instead of filling an area of the team that at the time had Lucas, Son, Lamela, Sessegnon, Lo Celso, Sissoko and Clarke who could if needed and available out a shift in.

Jose said he would like a striker who could offer us the option of being able to play alongside Kane.
Furthermore, it needs to be made plainly clear to any targets that we will drop as needed and that he will certainly play fewer minutes going forward.

I love Harry, but he obviously cannot stay fit under the workload he's be given. He needs to accept a scaled back role and share the position. Every season is detrimentally impacted by his health, to win something we require a fit and firing striker more than 70% of the time. Even if its 60/40 Kane...he needs a work-share situation. If he doesn't like that, painfully, best wishes.

Jackanory by iz futbal iz futbal first he gives us his uninformed opinion on how boardrooms work, now he tells us all the summer transfer plans ...

The squad needs a striker more than we needed Bergwijn (who plays as a striker) that might be true ... but Bergwijn was available at a phenomenal price and the only strikers available were old overpriced crap. Just name one available that was worth buying?

Jose, who is on a 1m bonus for getting champions league, has according to you said fuck that "non-embarassing(sic) league position and a decent cup run and write the season off" that 1m clause was just me and Daniel having a laugh at the fans ...

Could you post more of your comedy insights, certainly brightened up my day laughing at that nonsense.

This one was available for a cool £15m if Levy hadn't been such a stingy one this winter :s

Yep. And they got to be so successful by spending more than they have and having three or four staff for every position.

oh wait.....

Who cares? We'd be able to afford the players we need and Bezos is neither an oil sheik with human rights problems or a Russian oligarch with dodgy connections.

Didn’t Poch also say that he was happy with the squad?
I didn’t believe him any more than I believe José

See if Jose says he’s happy at the beginning of next season if he doesn’t get the players he wants

I didn't believe him either, but that's not the point - Levy isn't a rational person imo, the saying one thing and meaning another doesn't fly with him.

And yes I'm sure Mourinho and Levy will fall out this summer, if not before.

Genuine question mate

I've never seen him play
Do you think he's good enough for us in the long term, regardless of price ?
Not just as a stop gap to get us over our injury crisis up top.
I think he's a good nº9, very much in the Llorente mode but six years younger. Good, not great. Very good in the air, hold the ball up with his back to goal to bring in the attacking midfielders. Strong, not pacy but pretty sharp over five, ten metres.

I think he would have done a decent job for us until May, allowed Mourinho to play the way he wants. Beyond that I think he would have been good cover, along with Sonny, giving us a different option to the straight "Son for Kane" swap.

It's pretty clear that Mourinho doesn't like the "false 9" idea, that he'd rather have Son plus a striker, but he found a way (with Bergwijn coming in I suppose). Now that Son's out too we are proper shafted, neither Moura nor Dele remotely resemble strikers, false or otherwise. WJ could have covered that role well, allowing JM to play differently elsewhere.

I doubt he would ever have been a WHL legend, but I think he could have done a decent job, again along the lines of Llorente, maybe slightly better.

Having said that, you should ask our ITK in Thailand, he knows a lot more than I do, having read his Wikipedia page and seen a YouTube video

Chosen over the Willian Jose fella, too.
Except he wasn't, as I've explained again and again. FCB tried to sign WJ for near on two weeks but Real Sociedad wouldn't budge. They signed Braithwaite because they were desperate and he was €50 million cheaper. I feel for Leganes, who don't have a lot of dosh and are embroiled in a relegation battle but in the end they were shafted for not setting his buy-out clause higher (presumably because that would have meant Braithwaite's agent asking for higher wages). There may still be repercussions as it goes, I think Lega have complained to UEFA

The fact that FCB wouldn't go over €25 million for WJ would suggest that that was a reasonable price for the player, ¿no?

Informative. 👍

Missed that detail. The argument becomes different then, thanks for clarifying.
