Player Lucas Bergvall

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Mate.. watch him take a ball and turn...he's pants ..his left foot is a fuckin liability and Infront of our box he's caught in possession far to often, and is irresponsible with his distribution.granted,he's good at running at defenders further up the pitch as long as he gets the ball Infront of him on his right foot . Taking the ball and turning, the lack of a left foot makes him easy for opponents to handle.

This post isn’t about Bergvall, right?

Yeah not creative enough to be 10 and not disciplined enough to be 6, nor does he have that passing range. He's a very good ball carrier, physically good etc so 8 makes the most sense going forward.

Not many players have the passing range at 19. Not because of the technical ability but because they haven’t got the experience needed to make the right decision to execute the skill.

Bergvall can technically make any pass you like but he’s still learning the game. Maybe #6 comes later but for now have him play 8 and bomb around.

Doubt it. Don't see a 6 unless he completely transforms.

Course it could happen ... young players change dramatically sometimes, but right now I'm not seeing a 6 and definitely not a 10.

We need to get out of the habit of having a good player and saying ‘oh, we could play them there too’.

He should stick as an 8 and we then buy a 6 and 10 to play alongside him, who are the same standard.

They are young players- there is elasticity to their final positions at that age. I do think Bergvall would probably be best as an 8, but if he finds a talent for scoring shitloads of goals as a 10 no doubt it would be better to develop him there instead of at CM. If you have the talent for goals/assists, it overshadows everything else you could do in importance.

He’s 19- he can be a lot of things still. In either case I disagree with you and Deuterz.

Bergvall already is our best 6. And he has plenty of technique to be a 10 if he wants.

Best 6 ?

He tears about like a headless chicken most of the time, lacks positional awareness and discipline, is a reckless tackler and his passing is ordinary. He’s not great receiving the ball under pressure with his back to the opposition, and he has a nasty habit of overplaying and getting caught in possession- the goal against Wolves one of many examples of this.

I don’t see how anyone can watch his oeuvre so far and see 6.

As far as 10 goes, I don’t think I’ve seen him play a through ball or smart pass all season. He’s got a smaller xa90 (0.05) than Kinsky. Not seeing how anyone is seeing “10”.

His biggest strength seems to ba getting the ball facing the opposition and carrying it 10-20 yards and laying it off.

He’s just a kid so hopefully he can develop his game, but he certainly lacks the fundamental skill set to be a 6. And he lacks the vision/passing to be a 10.
