What a debut. As auspicious a start as could be hoped for. The strike with his left would have been a beautiful hit for any of our attackers, much less an 18 yr old CB.

Just caught up on yesterday’s game.
Best part of Vuskovic goal was how quickly got into position. Look at Kudus pass & look how quickly Vuskovic reads Kudus is passing to him . His body position is already side on - giving him the range to strike first time on left foot . This is how you know he is so special . A natural. This can’t be taught

All this talk of him changing positions should stop. He is gifted , natural… but still young. What he needs is time & patience is to take his skill to next level . That requires stability & continuity.

If we play back3, way he plays would suit the central center back - covering both CBs when they stride forward.

Like keeping Bale as a left back because he played 30 games there for Southampton? It’s not a criticism of him, just an opportunity assessment based on his ridiculous talent

We should avoid typecasting him as a slow immobile CB that requires special handling in a back 3 before watching him play vs more opposition, don’t you think? He is only 18.

I could see us trying something creative with him. He will always be a CB first and foremost but by no means should his training limit where he might take it. That was as good a finish with his weak foot as any top drawer striker could hope for., ina my league: any keeper would have struggled to save it. Insane to put limits on such a prodigious young talent.

Did you hear Ledley talk about playing midfield against Juan Román Riquelme and realising there's massive levels to playing midfield. He basically said the bloke taught him no I'm a centerback first and foremost. Luke needs to learn his primary challenge.

Lets get him to play a decent number of games as CB in Spurs first team first.

But he did start off as a DM before becoming a CB - just as Martin Jol found Vertonghen playing as a DM in Ajax first team before playing him further back as a CB and the same Martin Jol was not impressed by a low scoring striker Dembele and played him further back as a midfielder - both changes of position being after Jol had left Spurs as manager.

So players can change position after breaking into the first team - but its worth while Vuskovic getting established in one position, CB, first.

I just love footballers that are talented they can play in multiple positions… Vertongen decent CB in a 2 or 3, good LB and LWB. Would have been a decent right forward no doubt

Toby could play RB, probably DM too. Dembele could have played 6, 8, 9 and probably LB or RW.
Dembele did play 9 and was rather poor, which was why he was converted to a central midfielder.

wasn't he really skinny a year ago? he looks like hes filled out nicely, looks like a healthy 27 year old, not a teenager.
He's never been super skinny. He looked like a man in the U14s.

Hope he plays in the preseason tour, would like to see him come up against tougher opposition to see how he fares.

I think he will stay and get some minutes. Not a huge amount but here and there. Could see him coming on as a 3rd cb in those real gritty scrappy games for his ariel prowess both defensively and in attack.

Another good youth player we have scouted , I feel good is a bit of an understatement though …… this lad is going to be special , if we can keep these young players improving and add in a few more like Kudus over the next few windows then we might just have a squad that can compete ……
Bergvall and Vuskovic in consecutive seasons is exactly where we should be aiming (elite talents at outliers). To fill where the academy has elite talent gaps.

Sarr and Udogie similar just not as prodigious, cheap, or quite as young.
