Like keeping Bale as a left back because he played 30 games there for Southampton? It’s not a criticism of him, just an opportunity assessment based on his ridiculous talent
Remember , you are basing this assessment on back of watching him for 1 game. He has never played other positions in his life. So there’s nothing to even suggest he will make a better no6. 6 is specialist position . CB always look forward when receiving ball. No6 not so. They need to have agility , presence of mind, positional sense - all the things aren’t easy skill to acquire

We should avoid typecasting him as a slow immobile CB that requires special handling in a back 3 before watching him play vs more opposition, don’t you think? He is only 18.
I didn’t typecast him.. I only talked of back3 because that’s the easiest & safest way to give him playing time & integrating into squad..

You have seen him for 1 game at CB - while we can appreciate his quality - don’t you think it’s actually going to other end of scale and saying he should change his position ?

I just can’t believe you think he’s hopelessly slow already.

Bergvall and Vuskovic in consecutive seasons is exactly where we should be aiming (elite talents at outliers). To fill where the academy has elite talent gaps.

Sarr and Udogie similar just not as prodigious, cheap, or quite as young.
We have been rolling the dice on potential elite youngsters, and succeeding in signing them often against competition from the likes of Barca, Bayern, & our PL rivals, much more frequently in recent seasons. Paratici's networks often seem to be involved in identifying these players, probably through his contacts with agents, as it must be harder for data analysis to accurately assess them.

Bergvall and Vuskovic look like inspired signings.

Udogie & Sarr are both probably worth double what we paid for them, and have the potential to become even better.

I think Kinsky is an outstanding signing, and Archie Gray, Tel, Odobert and Yang all have big seasons ahead of them.

But it is swing and miss. We rolled the dice on Bryan Gil and Veliz, and neither worked out for us. It's never going to be a 100% success rate.

It's also important t hat we continue giving opportunities to our best young players like Mikey Moore, and developing the likes of Donley, Devine, Phillips & Abbott so they can maximise their potential.

Romero, VDV, Danso, Dragusin and we meant to be in for Zabarnyi. Where is he going to fit in unless we play 3 at the back.

TBH our best formation is probably 343

.......Tel....Solanke...Kudus
Udogie...Benten..Bergval..Porro
........VDV..Romero...Danso
.................Vicario
I don't think "where would he fit in" is a problem.

The problem is, IF we are in for Zabarnyi, Romero is most definitely going.

Where did I say that ? I never commented on his pace.
You have some problems reading ?
May be go check your eyes or your brain not interpreting what your eyes see ? 😋

You said it was the safest way to integrate him- I guess you must have some reason to think he can’t play in a 2. Or maybe you think he’s too inexperienced tactically to keep up? Either way he did great, and Frank confidently played him in a back 2. Seems Vusk just might disappoint a bunch of doubters by being too good too soon.

This guy looks the real deal, at his age hes an absolute fucking unit as well - needs minutes this season and will get them given amount of comps we will be in

I like the idea of playing a 4-2-3-1 with VdV at LB, and switching to a 3-2-4-1 in possession, e.g.

GK

Porro ---- Vuskovic ----Romero-- VdV

Gibbs-White --- Bentancur

Kudus ------- Maddison -------Tel

Solanke

Becomes ...

GK

Vuskovic ---- Romero ---- VdV

Gibbs-White --- Bentancur

Porro ---- Kudus ---- Maddison ----Tel

Solanke
