Exactly this.

Moreover I've said in other threads as well that the time to play 4-4-2 is at home against lower opposition that come and defend for 90 minutes, not so much against the top 4 teams or tough away days against organised units.

To put it simply we can beat shitter teams with our strikers, and better teams with our midfielders. Man United have had various formations this year - it's just their players stay in their roles better and know if they go walkies they will be dropped.

Of course Sir Alex gets it wrong too sometimes, but not for 3 games in a row.
