Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Hero to zero.

Still unfortunately our best attacker tonight. Shambles really from Lange and Vini that we are even having to rely on him Muani and Richie. Always gonna struggle to win anything when that's your forward line

Should terminate his contract for that penalty alone. What the hell is he thinking? Even if the Leeds player wins the ball there he´s not in a dangerous position. So fucking braindead.

He was our best attacking player tonight. Muani and richarlison were juat rubbish. At least Tel successfully took on players, played some good balls and scored a beauty.

The penalty was just a rash decision which he had no idea about. It wpnt have been given if it happened to our opponents.
I agree he was better than our other 2 attackers but there is no excuse for giving away that penalty it’s atrocious decision making. As others have said, incredibly ego driven attempting an overhead clearance in the circumstances. The cross into our own box that almost picked out DCL(?) too, luckily Kev bailed him out.

Really want him to succeed and think he’ll turn into a top player, wish he showed that arrogance in the final third more. Just not in our own penalty box. He’s 21, some world class forwards past and present weren’t really on the radar at that age.

It's mistakes like these that have put us in the position we are in. Who in their right mind plays the pass that he played and tries an overhead kick when all you have yo do it get your head on it? Honestly these players drive me absolutely fucking mad

I don't blame Tel so much- he's a kid and barely has had a good coach the whole time he's been here. Club however I blame for leaving us so bereft of options. Absolutely unforgivable executive management.

Nope, it was dreadful decision making.
He glanced at Ampudu while the ball was in the air. He knew he was in his own box.
Place your body between where the ball is going to land and Ampudu's run and let him clatter you. The ref will give a foul.
He's not a kid and this kind of shocking decision making will see us going down. All you need is a basic football brain which all pros should instinctively have.
No excuses.

It’s in short supply in this team.

If he heads it it's going right to a Leeds player streaming back towards the box.

The appeal of hoofing it overhead is totally understandable, and he did the right thing to scan to make sure he had space. But he didn't, saw he didn't, and then hoofed it anyway. Such a frustrating error.

Only an idiot does what he did there, as someone above said it's all 'look at me'. You go up for a head and try to put it out to the side for a throw if anything. As soon as he’s shaping to try a fucking bicycle kick, the Leeds player sees the opportunity to mug him just like he has. Braindead actions get punished in football.

Tel is a terrible player, he's been shit since he arrived. A few decent crosses and two to three goals do not make up for it, his decision-making is woeful. The cross across our own goal because he hasn't played the ball sooner and ended up going to no man’s land is just as bad. For someone who’s not good enough at the basics, he's got some front to try and be flash.
