Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You think you are doing something noble jumping to his defence because of the social media shit.

It's like you don't think people should be able to criticise him now because he suffered racial abuse on social media. Any criticism now is a 'thin line' away from posting monkey images directly to him.

It's not making you the good guy you think it is. It's just making you look a prat really.

I'm not interested in listening to you anymore, it's all just a vortex of garbage.

Awful of a club of our standing. There's not one thing that he excels at. If bang average is the type of player you like, then I'm glad you've got your guy.
Not my type of guy. Just stating that it was a bad sub considering his only attribute is being average at taking on his full back and we were going to have about 10% possession the rest of the match.

I’m sure Frank learned from it and overall I was impressed with his first match in charge.

I thought the deal with a loan with an option was so the potential, buying club can have a good look at the player.
If he's not up to it send him back to the selling club when the loan expires, but what Spurs have done is signed him up because Bayern reduced the fee.

Bayern must really have wanted rid of him as they reduced the buy option with the loan deal from £45m, to £30m, effectively giving Spurs £15m back for taking him away.

The present situation is the club wait fingers crossed that he turns out to be good and the time from his debut on 6th February until the season ended was merely a dip in form, or him needing time to settle in.

Until proper punishments are dealt out to those who abuse anyone on social media, then these low-life will continue to make disgusting posts.
I don't think Tel is a great prospect and I hope that he proves me wrong, however it's not ok to insult him, especially by our own supporters.

100 percent. It's typically bored teenagers in Saudi Arabia using racism because they know they'll get a reaction. Liberal media backlash rinse and repeat. Hilarious that people still think it's all white van driving reform voters from Essex.

Didn't some of the abuse saka got for missing in the shoot out for England get proven to be from bots or something?

The thing that annoys me about the racial abuse is that it provides the under-performing player with an instant political lever to divert attention away from any criticism. Even before Tel came up to take a penalty, I had a feeling that he would miss. It had nothing to do with the colour of his skin. I just get a very strong Superstar-in-Waiting vibe from him. The moment people bring race into it, they lose all credibility and the player gets victim status.

If we go back to the 2021 Euros Final, I was appalled by the way we failed to put up any real fight in that shootout. We just let a prima donna and a couple of woefully inexperienced players take the penalties and said we "did our best". The racial abuse took the attention away from all of that and Gareth Southgate became a hero for being a "good loser". I know I shouldn't be referencing the Donkey but, in this instance, I think he had a point.

Why can't people just leave race, sexuality, politics and all the other crap at the door and just focus on the football? It's not rocket science.

Couldn't agree more.

The thing with sexuality is that Kane as England captain has sometimes worn a LBGT rainbow captain's armband, and the thing with race is that they were taking the knee, so the players, clubs, federations, are bringing those topics into football.

I know of people booing when players took the knee about George Floyd, because they disagree with bringing the topic into football. Then there's bellends like Lineker who uses his position as an ex-footballer, and match presenter, to highlight different topics that people either share a political view with, or don't,
