Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Odd take ... Ampadu has every right to try and get to the ball.
Yeah exactly. If it was any of our players we’d be applauding the fact he put his body on the line to win us a penalty.

Tel as he has done on several occasions has shown his immaturity, which may very well cost us our place in the premier league. He’s obviously not the only one responsible, far from it. But 3 point against Leeds and we’d be all but safe. Now, I genuinely think we go down.

Didn't really 'cost us' because if he wasn't on the pitch we still most likely draw that game anyway.

I did think at the time there was a chance the ref may dismiss the claims because of that.
When Tel started his motion of the overhead kick ampadus was not near Tel, he Steam trained into his foot and the ball

At this point of time he's started his motion of the bicycle, his eye is on the ball.
Perhaps he should have looked up?

Players aren't allowed to go for loose balls now, it's not fair, players should be allowed to do needless bicycle kicks in their own box. Not Tels thought he has a serious lack of awareness and intelligence, don't worry though, the club will foot the bill.
It's inexcusable from Tel, but some people are actually saying " yeah but, he's an attacker trying to defend, so cut him some slack". Absolutely not! Maybe if it happened mid-season, we could use the forthcoming games to try and mitigate that particular f*ck up , but not at such a crucial juncture.
Also, in my opinion, Tel made that kamikaze pass across our penalty box because he lacked either the ability, confidence, or brains to spin the other way and clear the ball, or otherwise simply knock it out of play.

Let’s not ignore the reason why he had to make that challenge - because that wanker Richardson can’t kick a football and scuttled a clearance nowhere. Non league level oaf that can head the ball well but offers nothing else

That cross to DCL was one of the most moronic plays I've seen in a long, long time.

And he only went & followed it up with another huge brainfart to cost us absolutely huge points.

Them two mistakes say a lot more about who Tel is as a player and person than his goal.

Must. Get. Rid.

It could be argued that he is learning on the job. Not sure that is ideal for a relegation battle though.

Yeah and I'd tell them people that's a lot of bull.

He's young, sure...but he got 10 games at Rennes, 80+ at Bayern, 50+ and counting at Spurs, along with 50 odd caps for France's youth teams.

It ain't an age or experience issue. It's all down to lack of intelligence and a flawed personality...huge ego, loves the flashy.

Ange and Frank were terrible at developing young players. Conte before that didn't want to. Jose also refused to.

Tel as basically all of our younger players are victims of that. They've all basically stagnated or regressed since arriving here. Tel at least has a chance to improve for us, though.

We may not have the team we wished for- just the one we have. You have an opportunity though to get behind the one we have and actually support it for the next two games. What are you going to do?

I’m going to support the club for the next two matches, yet at the same time, point out that if you’ve decided to cross the ball across your own six yard box, you’re probably a bit of a thickie and won’t make it as a top level player.

Young players make a lot of mistakes. Older players make mistakes too, just not as often.

Glad you'll get behind the team, champ.

Every right to go for it yeah, I'm not saying he doesn't, I just don't think he has the subsequent right to a penalty for actively shoving his head in between Tel's foot and the ball.
Tel should have tried to take it on his head and gotten ran over by Ampadu. Yellow for Ampadu, Tel maybe injured. Foul given. Scoreline preserved.

He's a young player though and made a mistake. He scored a stunning goal as well. As a reasonable human seeing this in the context of our club and season, I'll give him a pass and hope that he continues to improve for us.

Nice of you to give him a pass, champ. Bet he feels blessed due to this. Hat-trick incoming on Tuesday.
