The narrative that Levy don’t back managers really struggles when, with hindsight, if looks ever more like he backed Poch and his whims way too much. Tricky one.Poch's biggest failing was not wanting to work with a DOF, had that happened we would have found it much easier to get him players and back him, we still have 3 of his players in our squad who have been monumental flops one way or another and we are still recovering from his stubbornness.
I don't know why this thread isn't called "let's bash poch"....
Is that a self portrait Dan?
Probably be put on gardening leave if he goes and just continue paying his monthly salary.
Said it many times, great head coach but lousy manager. Since being given a larger role, he has really struggled.Poch's biggest failing was not wanting to work with a DOF, had that happened we would have found it much easier to get him players and back him, we still have 3 of his players in our squad who have been monumental flops one way or another and we are still recovering from his stubbornness.
He may not be screwing them up intentionally, but screwing them up he is. They have bought a fair amount of crap, have players on big wages on long contracts. Because of the scattergun transfer policy they are in a worse state than when Poch took over.
I reckon Brighton would be a good fit - as and when De Zerbi inevitably gets plucked away from them for a 'bigger club'... I think the main criticism of Pochettino will be his lack of smarts in choosing his clubs. PSG was always a weird one as well.
He's a good coach who will get his career back on track when he finds his way to a more functional club.
Meh. Tuchel also failed with this new era/new look Chelsea (excellent coach - CL with Chelsea, multiple finals, only coach to get PSG anywhere close to the CL) so I think the main criticism of Pochettino will be his lack of smarts in choosing his clubs. PSG was always a weird one as well.

I thought Brighton would have been a good move for him when Potter took the Chelsea job last season. I can see Liverpool making a move for De Zerbi in the summer so Brighton may well be shopping for another manager. The only thing I would say is that they tend to recruit from outside the Premier League so any replacement for De Zerbi is more likely to be someone we've never heard of. They'll pluck the latest hot talent out of nowhere just like they usually do and they'll see Pochettino as yesterday's man.I reckon Brighton would be a good fit - as and when De Zerbi inevitably gets plucked away from them for a 'bigger club'
Because he is 2 points behind the top spot in Bundesliga with 14 games left?
