Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

do agree Poch does have blind faith in playing short goalkicks against pressing forwards, yes Hugh's kicking is his weak point (something he should have worked on over the years in training)
for me its about mixing it up, some games you can play short all the time, others we need to fill midfield and win the long goal kicks
thinking about it, maybe Poch can't see Erikson and Son winning or even challenging headers from goalkicks

I think your last point is the reason - it doesn’t make it any easier to watch though.

Poch's subs were actually decent yesterday! Wanyama came on and scored that absolute beauty, Lamela came on and won us a penalty, replacing Sanchez, who looked like he was going to gift Liverpool a second goal at 1-0...

Now we're nearing a fulling fit squad, we have far better options from the bench. Think Winks (if he can stay fit), Lamela and Lucas Moura will be key figures in the run in.

Actually, I think that's a brilliant piece of 'management' by Pochettino. Typically calm with just enough 'people in glass houses...' to give the reader pause.

It does suggest he coaches this type of 'trickery' though. :pochlol:
However, look how the S*n have spun it...

and, sorry to jump on this but given yours and mine respective positions on this, he see's it that same as me. It's part of the game. Get the contact and you could win a pen, don't get the contact and you get booked. Nothing to do with a player being shamed for doing it, as all players do it. It's part of the game and has been for many, many years. (Hate having it done against me, love seeing our players doing it).

I hate diving, I really do, but like you say - every other cunt does it. We've had, and will have plenty more go against us.

And that is exactly how it will be spun. It's how it will always been spun, nothing new other than a Manger showing some balls to actually say it. A manger that actually is the most credible of them all, why? Because he NEVER blames the ref, he's accepts it's part of the game and he doesn't come out and moan post match complaining only to say the opposite the following week when it suits him.

But you can't publically condone it. :avbcringe:

That was a fucking PR suicide from Poch.
Only for the twats though.

His comments will be "debated" and whilst they are chewed over and people will rant about it, the truth might out. Poch can claim the high ground on this given he is the only Manger than doesn't bitch at refs decisions, he accepts them as part of the game.

This will last for a few weeks, then go back to what it always has. With the hard men of football, like Shearer, saying the game is too soft and how much he hates diving, but in his next breath saying that it's a pan because there was contact.

I'm 100% in agreement with our manager. Fergie's players were the same.

We can't buy the league like City and our beautiful football won't always be enough.
I don't want mindlessly aggressive players but I'm all for "dark arts", gamesmanship and game management if it wins us more games. Fact is we would have lost against Liverpool without it. Kane making sure he was tripped (not a dive), Lamela getting in the position to be fouled.
Not to mention Eriksen "helping" the referee with his decision to award the first penalty.

Our players were actively winding up Man Utd near the end of the game the other day and I think they were told to do it. Dele's fouls on Sanchez. Look at Lamela when subbed on- he went straight to jostle Martial.

And how many times have England been dumped out of tournaments by cleverer teams?

The likes of Jose and Pep tell their players to cheat and dive but they would never admit it in public. That's the point.

Also, he should have been aware of the fact that UK journalists spin shit for a living.

Also maybe the fucking opposition should be better...judging by the fouls Dele gets they can't handle him! They double up on him but his trickery is too good and he draws fouls.... He's the second most fouled player with 66 ...clearly too good when he knocked the ball and runs between two only to be tripped....
