Absolutely. What exactly has he done ???
At a cheap price he could be a steal, imv - streets ahead of Kane
I'd take an experienced coach over Pochettino any day, there wouldn't be much point in sacking AVB if we switched for Pochettino.
Aye okay, so it's more psychological than it is directly linked with the job in hand. Thanks, I just never understood as to why it mattered. It certainly matters that he played football, can't imagine many top class players being impressed when the manager has never been in their shoes.
Maybe that's not fair but it's just the way I can imagine a lot of players would feel . You right doesn't have to be pele but a Career would help.

One big difference though. Pochettino was an Argentine international footballer so probably has a good idea how the game should be played. AVB, on the other hand, was/is probably no better at football than me.

I understand the experience bit, but recently most of the great players turned managers have been fairly average. Robson, Bruce, Keane, Klinsmann etc. Historically too I can only think of Clough as having a great playing career. I'm probably hugely wrong though. Most of the British managerial greats have not been fantastic footballers.Well not only that, but there are also decades worth of experience, training, understanding someone who had a career will have compared to someone who didnt.
What players do and dont like or respond too, how it feels through a season, what goes through your mind in various situations.
Learning from other coaches, physios...

I can think of a few foreign players turned great managers but no British ones atm.
I agree. I do find it odd though that inspirational players and captains like Roy Keane and Brian Robson can turn out to be so pony as managers. They can drive their players on as equals but when elevated to manager they lose their mojo. Its not to say being a player makes a good manager, not at all.
Just to say there is a wealth of experience, knowledge, know-how available to someone who has played compared to someone who hasnt.

Appreciated! But I was just speculating/playing devils advocate. If hypothetically this deal was on offer, I for one would take it!That deal wouldn't be good for our squad with home grown players. We need to keep Rose and Lennon until other players come through. Dembele is someone we should keep hold of if we're going to play him to his strengths.
We are also very unlikely, it pains me to say it of course, to get Shaw :walkercry:
