Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I can't help but be slightly bothered by this. I think some people are taking this to mean and getting a little prematurely excited that we'll be landing FdB because of this. What if FdB doesn't work out and Pochettino signs up again with Southhampton?

I've been leaning more towards de Boer, but if that doesn't work out I'd at least like to have a shot at Pochettino.

I think the comments from FDB's camp pretty much means that if Levy wants him to come, he will come.

I'm hoping Levy wants that, I really do.

Apparently the Martinez ITK came from a guy who used to be one of the best and hasn't posted anything in a few years, so it's possible if the big two candidates move on that Levy does do what it takes to open that option.

Yeah I agree. Take heart ILSpur ILSpur , I think the de Boers have made it quite clear they want the job.
It would just be so fucking typical that while we're screwing around with the details and small print, a sudden surprise resignation or firing would come up and we lose out. Life will go on and the sky won't tumble if we lose out on him, but it would definitely suck.

True that. I'm quite upset with the club for letting the ball slip on Kono in the winter given the word now that bigger clubs are having at him. Same as with de Boer, the need is obvious and the fulfillment of the acquisition perfect. Bizarre the pattern of this club scrambling to get to their goals seemingly the hard way.

Reading this article, does Livermore have a roll at spurs next season?

I wish he'd stay, but for the sake of playing time I see no way in which he can be promised a starting spot, so I think he'll go. Suits him, and would suit the new manager as a Livermore sale would likely generate a decent chunk of change after having a full Prem season under his belt.

Shaw stating that any potential move from Southampton will be talked about after the World Cup. Does not sound like a he wants to leave urgently, so maybe Pochettino is staying put?

Tottenham Hotspur will make one final check to see whether Carlo Ancelotti is interested in becoming their new manager before making their move for Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino next week.

The Spurs board decided on Friday to approach Southampton to speak to Pochettino. Their only alternative would be if Ancelotti leaves Real Madrid following Saturday’s Champions League final but that does not appear likely.

The attraction of returning to London would interest Ancelotti but his wage demands are likely to be prohibitive. The Italian, nevertheless, has a good relationship with Spurs’ director of football, Franco Baldini.

Pochettino has been Tottenham’s first choice since the club decided not to take up the 12-month option on Tim Sherwood’s contract.

Spurs have spoken to Rafael Benitez’s representatives in the knowledge that the Napoli coach would like to return to England but there has been no contact for more than two weeks.

Similarly, Spurs are adamant that they have had no dealings with Ajax over coach Frank de Boer – despite his claims of an approach in April – since they inquired about him at the end of November when it became apparent Andre Villas-Boas might be sacked.

Pochettino, 42, is the kind of dynamic training-ground coach Spurs want and a crucial factor in their interest in him is the hope that he will be able to get the best out of the foreign players, notably fellow Argentine Erik Lamela, who were acquired last summer. Spurs would have to pay compensation of £2 million for Pochettino and would insist that he speaks English to the media. Despite continuing to use a translator, Pochettino does speak good English.

Southampton remain hopeful that Pochettino, who has a year left on his deal, will sign a new contract.
