The example to Dortmund is a good one, there are other clubs in Europe too that trade well to compete. However, I don't want to do what Dortmund do and sell to a direct rival to make them stronger whilst weakening your/our position. The only way this makes sense is if player X is valued £30m on the open market but you sell £70m to that rival if you get my drift. But the fan in me will only see the fact that we have strengthened a rival. (ManU offered us more for Bale, but we didn't take that money because it would strengthen them and weaken us, my fingers are crossed that this attitude is still with us).Sometimes we'll have our hand forced. Even teams like Dortmund can't keep all their talent, despite how many cups they might win, how amazing their fans are, or how dazzling their football can be.
So long as there's never an exodus, and we reinvest the money on exciting young potential, then I don't know what more we could do. If Walker is hell bent on leaving, then you don't want the dressing room poisoned.
Though this does feel rather abrupt in a "Boss, I don't like the weather" email on FIFA kind of way.

It's all relative though. Palace earn shit loads but are even further behind Man U than they were last year. We earn shit loads of money but are even further behind all of the 5 clubs above us financially, we are further behind not closer, the gap is bigger now (Last year) that it had ever been. If we couldn't compete before the new TV deal, we sure as hell cant now. Although I do appreciate all PL teams can in theory afford not to sell to European clubs as that have been elevated above them. The Dortmund comparison doesn't really fit for me.
The PL TV money means even as a start all clubs in the league don't need to sell. Secondly Dortmund are based in a really poor area, they can sell loads of tickets - but it's the same as Newcastle or Sunderland do.

Can't stand either but Custis is a massive cunt.
Trying to be fair for a moment, I can understand why Custis is pissed because they have phoned him up to be a guest on the show to get his opinion on football, only to then have his football knowledge questioned. That would fucking piss me off, it's also plain rude.
Custis though always makes it about him, he is an aggressive bastard and is constantly getting involved in ridiculous arguments where he always ends up looking like a complete tit.
TalkSport and The Sun are now brother and sister companies, put together by their demigod Mckenzie, so yeah of course he does, he's been on many times because of this very relationship. To be fair, TalkShite spends every other day of the week riling their 'valued listeners' to the point where they phone-in and pay their wages!
I'm pretty sure Custis knew what sort of 'Talk Show' he was going to participate in!
arnt most Dortmond -> Bayern transfers due to players being at the end of their contracts? The example to Dortmund is a good one, there are other clubs in Europe too that trade well to compete. I don't know to be fair, I don't follow zee German footie closely. But to say that would suggest that Bayern are doing Dortmund a favour?? I was always under the impression, from the media, that Bayern basically took their best players to keep them in their box.arnt most Dortmond -> Bayern transfers due to players being at the end of their contracts?
no but Dortmund have no say in the matter so if our players act like Lewandowski (free run down his contract) or Gotze (realease clause had no choice) they have not chosen to sell to their rival for a long time - Bayern do what man u used to improve themselves while weakening rivals.I don't know to be fair, I don't follow zee German footie closely. Some topical good old fashioned media bias, listen to the commentary......"OH NO!!"
