Lets also hope that AP dose'nt continue with the high line without Mickey. I'm hoping there might be a silver lining in Mickey's injury, that being we sit 3-4 yards deeper and we see from this more controlled performances which will then continue when VDV returns.
Yeah.
I understand Pep is reconsidering his whole philosophy after the defeat last night.

I've read about a number of Aussie athletes visiting this Aspetar clinic the last few years for chronic hamstring issues, looks like they get the best from around the world and they seem to have some good success, Micky is definitely high risk and I hope the club is going above and beyond to get him right over the long term

Honest question - did you notice how high City’s line was last night? All their defenders had to make recovery runs too. Seems to have worked quite well for them over the past 5 years or so
Many teams are defending higher too, granted not as high as ours, but it's definitely becoming a norm honestly. People just don't wish to see what they don't wanna see. You can bet when teams execute it perfectly, they will attribute it to the high line. When things fell apart with our high line, people will be questioning our stupidity.

It's not about ANY tactical system. This is the obsession of modern football online commentary. It's about having the resources to implement a system that can be pretty attritional. Our club does not provide it's coaches with an abundance of top grade cover. That's the issue. We can pretend this isn't ab issue but loads of Celtic fans told us about the injuries we'd get and they were not wrong.

The high line hasnt caused us any major problems this year. Its stupid individual errors like Sunday v palace and brighton

What’s worse is when you only have 3 reliable centre backs and you play them all… 1 injury and you’ve got major issues when competing in multiple competitions.
Can we recall Phillips from Stoke? Or is he not quite up to scratch yet??

Looking forward to seeing Vuskovic in the flesh when he arrives in the summer...

Just need to keep hold of the ones we've got, and not just start replacing them.

Having 6 quality CBs at the club at the same time next season would open up so much opportunity to rotate and rest our core 2 or 3...

Romero + VDV
Dragusin + Vuskovic
Phillips + Dorrington

...that would be nuts!

Only three of them are proven quality players. Ben Davies also I guess. We need another proven CB. Good news is Dragusin is actually very good and just needs game time.

Spurs have conceded one more goal than Man City, the same as Woolwich and fewer than Villa and Chelsea, in the PL.

Fair point, but its the physical demands of AP's system. To expect a core of 7-8 players to perform in this system for 50+ games a year at the level Ange demands has to be questioned and maybe its the reason VDV has now just picked up his second hamstring injury in 2 season!

Who said it had caused us problem in a tactical sense? Go to said Brighton thread and you can find ME pointing this out. Its not why Romero cant mark or Udogie not track his man.
The way we play and use the highline, and a lack of game management, is attrional lots of duals and sprints that's a problem with a squad the size and composition of ours. Do you understand? Because a couple of contributors keep mumbling " nothing wrong with the highline " like Abe Simpson when we are not debating its merits. We need to protect VDV and Udogie and in terms of logistics and tactical approach we have to change to do so. We go on as we are we'll caused one or both irrevocable harm.

In that situation Phillips and Dorrington would see no game time.

We need to make a call on Phillips next summer. Sell if he's not good enough. He should have enough Championship interest for us to make some money on him.

Dorrington should go on loan in Jan and then again next season, he's played no men's football.

I have high hopes for Vuskovic. He looks like he can come in and contribute from day 1.
