Player Micky van de Ven

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Moronic management and actually really dangerous to the careers of these players. I wouldn't want to hang around if I thought a coach was endangering my future as a player.

Yeah, I get it. The alternatives are poor. The situation is dire. But you can't risk the health of players and rush them back to win a few points. Ultimately we haven't even done that, we've lost anyway and injured them some more.

Speaks to how desperate Ange is really.
He got through the bulk of the game to be fair. The mad ting was not subbing him on 75 mins

I do think that the ball has to land on Ange and Micky here. Managers seem to have the authority to overrule team doctors/medical teams.

Like when Hugo and Poch overruled the doctor to let Hugo play on despite having a concussion as it turned out (I think that was during Poch, possibly Sherwood if it was before him). And Mourinho had multiple bust ups with the doctors at Chelsea in regards to players being ready or not to play.

In football , medics employed/ paid by the club can only advise a manager and the player involved. If they choose to ignore that advice ; that’s their prerogative.

In sports like Boxing , F1 etc ( and latterly Rugby Union and Football, regarding head injuries) ; what the doctor says goes .

It doesn’t (yet ) apply to non-head injuries in football .

Players are often desperate to get back on the pitch; and their managers are equally desperate to select them .

PS : The medic who won her case against CFC (quite rightly) did so because Mourinho didn’t make an attempt to listen to her arguments or consult the player involved. She was giving him advice which he never even bothered considering. Nor did he confer with the player.

Getting through the game doesn't mean it was ever a wise choice. The whole time he was on the pitch he was risking injury, very clear he had not fully recovered now or been given enough rest time in general.

This isn't a Spurs specific issue tbf - I find it a worrying trend across the sport due to the amount of games and pressure/money involved. Bellingham seems to spend half his time being rushed back and wrapped up. Players will almost always be brave and want to get on the pitch but clubs need to take more responsibility for protecting their long term health.

Basketball (or at least the NBA) also seems to have a league wide medical system for the more serious stuff.

The team I follow in the NBA have a player that had to drop out of the previous season due to developing blood cloths in his heart. He's healthy now and playing again, but he had to clear both the team and league's medicals before doing it.

I don't know if that exists for football as well and if it does I guess that it only is for the really serious stuff.

The decision to play both of them will lead to him getting the sack now. It’s obvious. Dragusin must be running on fumes, Udogie will be next after have no real rest since his operation in the summer and it looks like Dorrington or whoever won’t be trusted.

I bet VDV is out longer than 2-3 weeks too. If he comes back again too early and does it again, he will be in a world of trouble. They won’t risk that.

Calling her mother a whore didn’t help either!

Classy

Fucking genius throwing both him and Romero right in again. Fucking GENIUS.

Season 9 Good Job GIF by Friends

How does any Premier League club, let alone one which pretends to be a big one, end up in a situation where we have one solitary centre back?

I don't know if it's Ange or if the medical team have cleared him to play or what but someone's fucked up seriously here
He and Romero were cleared by the medical team to play. Romero's injury isn't the same one.

Probably not helped by fans like you saying that if he loses this game then he should be sacked. Was it a desperate decision rushing both back? Yes. Was it influenced by pressure? Yes. Take some responsibility

Oh wow it's fans fault because we said he had to win games. This just gets more pathetic by the hour.

Genuinely worried about the duty of care here for players in this silly system.

yeah that fella just winds me up. Honestly he is just on here every day blaming every single thing on Ange.

Must win game he says. Laughing all week about Ange having to play Dragusin and Gray against the chavs and how we will get hammered!

Uhhhh I never said he if he loses this game he should be sacked. I don't rate him regardless of if he won that game or not. I don't rate him fundamentally as a coach and haven't since day one. I've been clear and consistent on that view so one win or one loss wouldn't change a thing.

ALL premier league coaches are under pressure to get results - especially when a manager of a traditional top 6 team is sitting in 11th place. Blaming the fans for daring to want results is proper delusional stuff.

And not to mention of the clubs’ investment in the players.

The words : Flogging and dead horse come to mind .
