Player Micky van de Ven

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Getting through the game doesn't mean it was ever a wise choice. The whole time he was on the pitch he was risking injury, very clear he had not fully recovered now or been given enough rest time in general.

This isn't a Spurs specific issue tbf - I find it a worrying trend across the sport due to the amount of games and pressure/money involved. Bellingham seems to spend half his time being rushed back and wrapped up. Players will almost always be brave and want to get on the pitch but clubs need to take more responsibility for protecting their long term health.
Every injury is different - you can’t tell with a ham, what you can say is there is a higher chance of re-straining it later on in a game

Maybe just a roll of the dice ; I can actually understand why he did it .

Funny times . Oh well.

Onwards.

Not really. He's not medically qualified and it's not his decision to decide a player is fit to play. Ther needs to be an inquisition into why he was cleared to play, though. And at the same time, Ange needs to look at himself for starting him first game back in a very intense game.

See my previous post : medics employed by the club can only advise the club / manager / player : once those messages have been taken on board and the the club / mgr / player have chosen to ignore it ; there’s nothing else that can stop anyone from playing despite their injury/ injuries.

Medics could have been saying: 5 wks further rehab and a gentle re-introduction in early Jan .

The club , Micky and Ange were well within their rights to dismiss that advice. For whatever reason.

It’s a fact .

NB: No longer applies to head injuries.

If thats true, if the medical really said that suddenly out of nowhere after a long layoff that VdV was 100% to play and attempt the full 90 without being gradually reintegrated to full training, then they all need sacked too.
I don't know (nor do any of us) but I guess that conversations with the medical team are fluid and taking place most days and not just out of the blue.
He's already said the plan wasn't to play him beyond 60 minutes but the Romero injury changed things.

I don't think the medical team said 'he's not fit to play' and Ange said 'fuck it he's playing'. Not for a minute.

I get people don't think he's a good manager but I don't understand why it gets so personal or why every little thing is used to criticise him when we don't have the info one way or another. He's told us the info, I really don't think he's lying.

They're not about to all be sacked.

Your proposed scenario is a fact? I mean it's possible but it's definitely not a fact, it's not even likely.

It's not personal. I just think he rushed our best defender too quickly from injury and it backfired. What's really boiled the piss is it was risky move when we're already thin on the ground and now we're down to one senior centre back.

I'm sorry he's the manager of a Premier league football club which is struggling. He's going to get criticism like any other football manager at a club which is struggling. It comes with the territory. It's tough tits really.

I was being hypothetical and hypothetically if you or I were advising the club about their very expensive and crucial employee ; It may not have been far from the truth when asked “ So when ideally does MVDV come back to us ; good as new “ ?

Obviously you and I and everyone else knows nothing about what actually happened. It’s only guesswork at the end of the day . He may well have been 100 % to face Chelsea and happened to pick up another unfore-seeable injury/ aka cramp .

The truth is we’ll just never know.

I hope he recovers ASAP .
