I used to see the same thing when BMJ played Lennon out on the left. Jol did it to aid his development. Wingers are often required to switch wings, particularly if they're not getting any joy against a fullback. Switching them is a waste of time though, if they have no experience in the position.

It's as much about aiding his development as anything else. It adds a different dimension and understanding to the player. Lennon was a better winger for the time BMJ put into him on the left.

I remember Lennon playing on the left against Chelsea in the cup (3-3 draw) and he was absolutely incredible.

Difference with Bale and Dele was that we bought them both...

Moore is homegrown... and we all know who the last homegrown superstar was....

Except Kane's emergence and trajectory to the first team was a slow burner... via multiple (and some unsuccessful) loans.
Moore has 'exploded' onto the scene.

If anything, taking into account his age, and that he's straight out of the youth team, this has more of a Hoddle feel about it... and that's saying something!!!

I think Yang's preferred side is RW... he's possibly being lined up as back up to Johnson...

But it's not a bad place to be in.

I think when people say "better" they mainly refer to technical ability and that is completely unrelated to age.

Moore clearly is a much more technically gifted player than Werner. Whether he goes on to score the goals Werner did and command transfer fees of 50m+ is dependent on a lot more factors.

Werner only ever had one good season in Germany. He was same at Chelsea as he is now. He will serve his purpose and be off in the summer. Cannot see anybody taking over the loan due to his wages .

He actually played no. 10 - we were absolutely thrashing them, but Mourinho worked out how to counter it at half time and we ran out of steam as we'd played away to Braga a few days earlier.

Seemed to have offered Lo Celso a long contract. IIRC Werner was brought in to replace Perisic, not a stop gap until kids come through. Maybe hoping Sessegnon would recover/be good.

We shouldn't have extended Werenr's loan and got someone like Odobert in sooner. We didn't know how well Moore would be at this time, back then.
