Asked Postecoglou how Mikey Moore is after he said he'll be back by the turn of the year: "Look, I come out here and I want to be as transparent as I can, but this is a 17-year-old boy. I don't like talking about what they have and what they don't have.

"It's nothing serious, but you know, he's 17. We're going to take our time, and I don't like this kind of constant, not from you by the way, but I've just heard other bits and pieces of people speculating, Come on. I mean, like, if it's your 17-year-old son, you don't want everyone to know what he has or hasn't got. It's nothing serious. It's nothing long-term.

It's just that he's a young lad and he's only 17, and he's a big part of this football club, and we will protect him, and we'll be guided by how he feels, how he recovers from, you know, an illness. Like I said, young people will recover at different rates. He'll be back. He's still here. he's He's part of what we're doing, and he'll be back in the next few weeks, but again he's missed a lot of football

"So whether we bring him back the first team or he needs to play, we've got to bear in mind that he's 17."

I'd heard some pretty ridiculous gossiping about him being unavailable - hopefully this shuts it off

Say what you will about Ange as a manager, he’s a great speaker and a good ambassador of the club.

Clearly a decent man

Just watching it now. He’s visibly angry about how a 17 year old boy is getting speculated about. Good on him. I liked his tone.

It goes back to my view that I think 16/17 is still far too early to be playing men’s football. They’re kids.

I agree.Although you do every now and then get the exception like Rooney who was 16 when he started playing, the difference with him was his frame and build was like that of a 25 year old even at 16.

Yes he is. But it's Ange's decision to stock the first team with players who are too young / need protected etc. Not good enough. Ok then Ange, let's have a proper first team squad rather than a bunch of young guys who all need protection, meaning our results suffer...

He's right to be angry imo.

Some kids (and only a very few) will be ready to play mens football when at that 16/17 age - but its essential that they are not asked to play that much as their still growing bodies can get long term damage, so Ange/club medical staff will probably have set limits such as no more than 90 minutes per week or per 10 days or 2 weeks whatever. And certainly not weekend/mid week/weekend.

There is no reason why Ange should give out any detailed information on younger players other than they are not playing for a few weeks - full stop.

In the case of Mikey Moore and Wil Lankshear they are both in addition to the main squad - so in the case of EL squad we have the maximum number of players registered allowed by UEFA, with Will and Mikey being added to the squad as List B players, so its not the case that they are somehow taking up other players places as some have posted.

We live in a world where someone starts a rumour / downright lie to cause mischief and it escalates / goes viral and it becomes gospel.
I just hope he's OK with whatever it is and the Club are looking after him (but with our medical team, I'm keeping everything crossed!).

Seems like he's a long way off. So much for our wing cover.

Moore/Odobert will have little part to play this season. Ange has basically written off Yang contributing. Richy is done.

We need attacking reinforcements in Jan. I predict another Danjuma type loan punt on someone shit.

I agree. Well done to Ange in this instance; but he could still do better.....

I think it sucks the way that we routinely send 18 year olds out to face the TV/press after we lose too. It's shit from the captain(s) and it's something the manager should ensure doesn't happen.

At least at this level.

It's another thing in my opinion if they are playing in like the 2nd-4th tier. Were there just isn't anywhere near as much media attention.

I think physically it's an issue too.

....Also there are mental/maturity/emotional factors that ought to be protected against too; but the reality is that at whatever level they're merely at the mercy of the manager (who may not be the most attuned to such matters).

Exceptions shouldn't dictate the rules.

The protocol should be fixed and pre-emptive.

Perhaps if Rooney wasn't fast-tracked and had been allowed to mature properly he would have a) learned to look after his body and b) not been caught shagging middle aged prostitutes before he hit his 20s.

Good. Moore is a young lad and should be protected and expectations tempered. Men’s football is, ahem, a different ball game and no one knows how good or bad he’ll be yet.

I think it's actually for the better long term that he isn't playing first team. He's had a look at the mens game. Now he needs to be allowed to develop and can remember just how insurmountable Tyrick Mitchell and the othe Place fullback seemed.

?

He said Moore will be back at the turn of the year so probably Jan and Yang will come in in Jan as well - he made reference to other players he's signed for Asia and they've been ready to contribute as they're match fit despite their season finishing.

I mean damned if you do damned if you don’t and whilst I appreciate the sentiment and like Ange is doing his best to protect him, I’m just not sure that particular statement is the way to it
