Did he play bad ?

I thought he was alright

Everyone seems to be getting it tonight

It was a one of those mildly uneventful 1-0 …. No one was particularly good, nor was anyone outstandingly bad

Not sure what the problem is tonight

Third page of the Tottenham section was where I found this thread.

If that performance tonight had been by another of our wingers (and we all know who), there’d be 12 pages since the final whistle, calling him all the useless bastards under the sun. 🙄

Really needs to step it up. Take a shot. From anywhere. From kick off, maybe. Just one shot. This season. Even get into position where you may be able to shoot. Please.
He does hold onto the ball for far too long before taking a shot. May explain his low goal return although he's clearly capable of a spectacular finish.

Disagree that you could compare this to BJ though, Kudus generally offers far more defensively and actually takes his man on. Had a few moments tonight creating space with his footwork, good hold-up play and strength too.

I thought he was very good at most things but the most important thing of all - creating chances - he was dreadful.

The worst one being when Palinha was free top of the box for an eternity and Kudus simply never saw him to make the obvious cut back. I don't think this is just a Kudus problem - but he needs to get his head up and/or be drilled to know where he's going to put the ball and be consistent about it.

He can beat his man so well but its worthless if he's not picking the right next pass.

He does like to find a blind alley even in the middle of the park when one isn’t obvious

The last 3rd of the game his passing was baaad.

We can't play him for 90mins every game..... Fatigue isn't only a physical matter. We need him fit, dynamic and hungry. Not red-lining.

This was the Spammers knock on him.

But it's a coaching issue. Drill him and the team to know what they are going to do and where they are going to be. Make it muscle memory rather than "vision". Then he'll be fine imo

Sounds hyper-predictable to me (and a fast-track to neutering a player like Xavi).

Ultimately creativity is always gonna require a degree of vision.

Xavi has vision. Kudus... doesn't?

So you drill the Kudus to always either put the ball across the box OR back to the top of it. That was he's predictable to his teammates.

Xavi you just let make the play - if he's in the 10 role

Just making the point that a similar performance by BJ would have been jumped all over on here. To be fair to Kudus, he does do more defensively than BJ, however, I know I seem to be in the minority here, but I don’t want to spend £55m on an attacking player that’s good defensively. I want him scoring and assisting. We’ve got defenders who can defend.

.......AND the opposition.

.................If that's the plan we may as well have signed Adama Traore during one of those many summers.

Not to mention the fact that such predictability will trickle down to how the others around him will be expected to play.

I'm just trying to find a way to make the bloke not miss Palinha in acres of space at the top of the box, mate.

So "Drill" it into him to get his head up..... Then make him practice the arse out of his weight of mid-distance pass......

............If he proves to be a limited blind alley merchant then we cross that bridge in due course; but at least aim high with his development plan to begin with!

Not sure you can "drill" being able to get your head "up". It's the thing that separates the good players from the elite. But yeah - that's what we need from him for sure

"Coach" then....

The notion of "drilling" doesn't really fit the context.

One thing not in our favour is that he's already 25... The bad habbits are already somewhat ingrained.

needs to be told not to hold onto the ball every time he gets it, it becomes so transparent and its also a killer for his energy. watching him dribble into the space where a team mate is standing free...

hes got ingredients to be very good, but he can be very frustrating at times.
