Management New Manager?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Thinking about the wait here : Is there a possibility he seriously thinks he could get Ancelotti, considering he could be out of a job come Sunday?

Well certain people have been bandying the name Pullis about......and being serious about it, so it wouldnt surprise me if some fans thought it would be a good idea

:defoe:

Pulis is a weird one. Like Redknapp (before he was at Spurs) he has gained a great reputation for getting the best out of very limited players and for making his sqaud play as a team but his style of football at Stoke for example was very nagative which does not follow our traditions.

If you where to ask me what manager would get us the best results in the short term at least and make us the hardest to beat I would probably say Pulis over FDB, Poch or Benitez as he would not be concerned with style but rather grinding out results and I would be shocked if he didn't. But we are Spurs not Chelsea and I don't think I could take more boring football like what we had with AVB.

Personally I think Pullis is woeful.

Put some spirit into Palace and credit where its due, but lets see what happens to them over the next couple of seasons. Probably be a solid PL team, but also a side filled with muscle head filthy fuckers, hoofing the ball and chopping people in half.

Go back one year, and the idea of him at Spurs would have people crying with laughter.

The last thing we need at Spurs is a bandwagen mentality.....Pullis = Lambert = MoN = Coyle = Big Sam

Unfortunately, it shows the wide difference between us and Man U. They get rid of Moyes and identify their man and get him signed up ASAP. We take forever identifying who we want.

On a side note, its funny about Giggs. He is just starting out in his managerial career and has jumped at the chance of being a number two and learning his trade.

Sherwood - " I aint interested being a Number 2. If I dont get the job, I am off". Cunt

I'm really not sure United should be held up as the best example of what to do when appointing managers...........this is only the second time they've done it in nearly 30 years, and they cocked up the last one massively

If anything Levy probably knows more about what to do and what not to do than anyone, he's had lots of exposure to the process and I think his actual appointments have been okay and well considered - it's his lack of support in the transfer market after that dooms them all to failure imo.

Agreed although if we ever fall back down the league towards relegation I bet he would be the first guy you would call on, as we are not in that shit situation I don't see him as an option, FDB or Poch will do for me.

I think Pulis might adapt his style if he took us over. Not that I want him as manager, or he will be our manager. I think he got Stoke playing a certain way as it got more results for the limited squad he had at times. But I still can't forgive him for the some of the stuff that team played against us, so I wouldn't want him. But, if he came, he'd get my support, etc.

Also, Man U sacked Moyes 21 days before we sacked Sherwood, so we havent taken longer than them just yet.

No fucking chance. Pulis wouldn't be able to manage our players as they are geared up to play attacking football, not be minimalist and try to scrape out 1-0 wins over every one of their opposition

Thats a big underestimation, I think he would easily be better at dealing with dressing room egos than AVB or Timmy, he is very tough from what I have heard and Palace are not as negative as Stoke to his credit, that being said he doesn't fit our style, he would be more suited to Chelsea than us.

Could not disagree more with that. Like Moyes, like Allardyce, Pulis manages in the style does because thats what he wants/knows/can do.

He had enough time at Stoke to produce much much better football. He also had money. Their net spend the last few years is condsiderably more than ours, do we play clogging football because we spend less than them?

Have a look: http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premiership-transfers/stoke-city-transfers.html
Net spend of £89,175,000 for the 5 seasons before the one just finished. Compared to £7,650,000 we spent in the same period.

The Palace squad he inherited was put together by Holloway, and whether you rate him or not it has to be said Holloway sets teams up to attack. Pulis has been forced into working with what he has and so tried to shore them up at the back, make the work hard, but essentially do what they know.

If in a season or two they are still a pretty attacking side Ill eat humble pie, but right now my bet is he turns them into Stoke MKII pretty quickly.

I believe Pulis does well with making 'smaller' teams achieve beyond their bar, by implementing solid, safe, defensive football and playing better than the sum of their parts. So in meeting season objectives of avoiding relegation - A+

Managing a Top 6 side with international stars and Top 4 expectations - not sure. Perhaps he needs to have a stint in a mid-table club first and take it from there.

However - what I do find interesting (as mentioned few days earlier) is how little the media pay attention to him even though he achieved so much more last season than someone like Pochettino for example. I guess he's not a very 'marketable' chap.

Palace wil probably do shite next year and the fans will start moaning about the style and pulis will get canned.

this thing about PL experience being a must for a manager - is that not bollocks? bollocks on the back of us making some ropey player signings and AVB getting his arse handed to him?
ancelotti, mourihno, potchetino, van gaal when the necky piched faced cunt arrives and pelegrino were not PL experienced and they've all done ok. Going back add in houllier and benitez.
It would appear to be a load of cobblers as a prerequisite for a manager. Fair enough for a player who is having to match up physically and pick up the pace, but not for the boss.

Its not a matter of patience? Its doing whats right. Do you belive FDB (as in your synopses ) would delay if Chelsea /Utd or City came in for him. We need to start behaving like a big club and expect to be treated like one. If there is an agreement he will sign later, pending ?. Then let us supporters know. If he wants to sign, nothing should change that.

Im with you on this one.....if you take the fans out of the equation, surely its imperative we do this quickly so certain players can have some reassurances and commit to the club...

Imagine if Utd bid for Eriksen...?

What should we tell him....."no you shouldnt go there under LvG... stay here and in a few months I will tell you who is going to be your manager. Oh, and if we miss out on the rest of our targets, it could be Les Ferdinand until Christmas.."

Can someone phone Levy doing a Liam Neeson Impression and say the following please:

"For every extra day from now you waste trawling through De Boer's contract looking at pointless things like a car parking allowance I will kill a member of your family"

See if that gets anything rolling, doubt it knowing him
