People that want Gollardo over Ange - why? They have similar resumes and both coach the best team in mediocre leagues
I've seen a lot of people on twitter and reddit say that it is because he's an Argentine and we have a "special bond with that country".

Which is silly considering that we've had multiple Argentine players recently that have down prioritized us in favour of their national side.

It would be more correct to say that we have had special relationships with specific Argies rather than the people as a whole.

Don't forget the Parrot.

I think its safe to say that almost all of this thread is based on hearsay.

Have the people who are crying out for Nageslmann seen loads of Bayern Munich? I doubt it. People are bitching about Postecoglou. Can they really spot the differences in the style of play between his celtic team and Rodgers? Probably not.
You’re right about Ange and Rodgers. So what’s Ange bringing to the table for Celtic that Rodgers didn’t abd therefire what’s he bringing to spurs no other manager couldn’t?

Well he took over Celtic after they had lost the title and won it back the next season and got them 15 more points than the previous season.

And at the very least he brings an attacking style of football to spurs that all of us want to see again. I don't know why he has to bring something that no other manager on the planet can.

So...the only similarity between Ferguson and Ange is that they both managed in the Scottish League. While Ange has won with Celtic. Ferguson won with Aberdeen. Before Ferguson, Celtic and Rangers used to win the Scottish Leagues. And after he left...Celtic and Rangers continued winning the League.

There is absolutely no comparison. Managing Celtic or Rangers is like managing PSG. Winning the league isnt that big a deal. In Europe however Ange's Celtic got 2 points out of 18. We wont have squad superiority in the PL like he has in Scotland, so all he does there will not translate here that easily.

I wonder what previous Scottish league winners are doing nowadays? Gerard , Neil Lennon, Rodgers? At least Rodgers has premier league experience. Ange is a complete nobody.
Fergie win in Europe as well!

Im saying that people go on about him playing attacking football. Well his not the only one!

Sure

We were nowhere near fourth.

On Newcastle. Wrong. You’d have lost your house.

Again … no issues with any of that because neither were stupid predictions. Nor was thinking Woolwich would win it - they were in an incredible position & City looked like they were focused on CL.

They completely bottled it & the rest is history.
I was wrong on Newcastle. Mea Culpa.
If you look at the date on my Spurs-Woolwich prediction then you’ll see I was spot on.

"We can't take some dope from a farmer's league like Ange, we need Marcelo Gallardo" is going to be the take that finally causes me to go insane.

It's some kind of bizarre reverse-xenophobia as best I can tell.

I find the Ange idea kind of nuts, but the poor quality of the arguments against are like polarizing me into agreeing with it. This is why the internet is bad for people.
I’m starting to think if his name was Angel Portillio or Anton Petersen everyone would love him.

The difference is that Pep was already a Barca legend as a player and his name had a huge amount of cache. Postecoglu has none of those things. If you want to persuade Harry Kane to stay and sign a new contract tying him to the club for the rest of his career, then hiring an unknown guy who is very nearly of pensionable age and has achieved about as much as Neil fucking Lennon is not exactly the way to do it.
Irrespective of what you think about Postecoglou, one thing we definitely shouldn't be doing is signing a coach to placate Harry Kane - and Harry is a great player. The high likelihood is Kane runs down his contract and leaves in a year's time, and I reckon he will do that irrespective of who the coach is. We need to start building for the post-Kane era, appointing a coach in the hope of keeping Kane here when he has one year left on his contract and big question marks about whether he will sign on is a stupid move.

what rebuild did he have to do at century ? They have won the league 13 /15 times recently. He needed to improve their CL record and his failed. Also think he was in charge previous season and couldn’t beat the mighty midytland in the qualifying round. Fucking brilliant!

What rebuild did he had to do? Prior to his arrival, Celtic had finished the 20/21 season 25pts behind Rangers, and had failed to win a trophy for the first time in a decade. The squad he inherited was an absolute shambles, which is part of the reason for the loss to Midtjylland. The squad for that game was made up of a smattering of first team players, some of whom were about to leave and weren't interested, and a load of youngsters and fringe players .

Of the 21 players named in the squad for the Midtjylland tie, only 8 of them are still around our squad. Only 2 of them could still be considered first team regulars. 3 at a push. The others range from benchwarmers to "only in case of emergency". The squad has been completely overhauled.

I understand the reaction to a guy you don't know much about, particularly when there are higher profile names out there, with a more conventional background and a track record at a higher level. The vast majority of Celtic fans were exactly the same this time 2 years ago when we first heard his name. Turns out the vast majority didn't have a clue what we were talking about, because he was exactly what we needed.

And sure, the Scottish league is of a lower level. But you can only manage what's in front of you. We don't know what he's capable of at the highest level because he's never been given the chance. But I would put my money on him to make a success of it, because he's one hell of a determined bugger. He has a clear vision for what he wants, and is able to articulate what he wants in a way that gets buy in from players and fans alike. And he's able to get the best out of the players he has. Once he got his squad playing the way he wanted he has dominated the game up here. And just as importantly, he's done it playing some fantastic football.

Personally, I don't think it's him that's wrong for Spurs. I think it's Spurs that are wrong for him.

I don’t want either. Gallardo is some hipster’s choice and Ange is just Spurs fans convincing themselves a bloke is definitely good because he’s not a big name & doesn’t play a low block.

Neither are really qualified to manage Spurs. Which y’know, doesn’t mean they will fail & when he’s here back him.

But I’m not gonna join the ‘look at all the stuff he’s won in Scotland and Australia’ cringefest that NOBODY would be saying about him if he wasn’t linked to Tottenham.

If this guy was going to one of our rivals it would be pisstake central. And quite fairly so.
