That's why we've done so well against lower league teams in recent years, is it?

It's actually pretty difficult to implement a style of football across a squad of players if they're not willing to learn and don't believe in what you do. It's not particularly hard to become a coach. Anyone can go and get their coaching badges. But implementing them across a squad of footballers is the hard part and he's achieved that at every club he's been at.

We've seen a bottom half coach from the PL manage Celtic (Strachan) and they won things. Again, winning stuff in those sort of leagues isn't the point. Because as you've rightfully pointed out, Celtic are one of two big clubs in that league with better resources and finances than the rest of the teams. It's how you do it and Ange has done it better than anyone in terms of football style and being able to implement his coaching on this group of players.

And I guess only the top leagues count for you, right? Because Ange took over Brisbane Roar in 2009 and by the end of the 2010/11 season had won them their first ever league title, losing just one game and going on a 36 game unbeaten run. Something that had never been done before in the leagues history. They then became the first team to win the league back to back the following year...

He went and managed the Australian national team. He lead them to an Asian Cup win, their first ever beating Son Heung-Mins South Korea in the final...

He then went to the Japanese league where he took over Yokohama Marinos. Guess what? He lead them to their first title in 15 years. Before going to a Celtic team that finished 25 points behind Rangers (The worst in 50 years) and just had their first season without a trophy in a decade and had them playing the best football they've likely ever had and won the league twice in a row and won every domestic cup they've had bar one (With a final coming up next week to win a treble)

Sure, they are just the Australian, Japanese and Scottish Leagues and no they don't compare to the top leagues but you can't belittle those achievements. Teams first titles, international success, he wins every where he's ever been and really before Celtic, not at the biggest and best clubs in that particular league.

Nagelsmanns Bayern were definitely not an improvement on Hansi Flicks Bayern Munich.

He may be. He may not be. He's got an extensive knowledge of the Asian market though and it's benefited him at Celtic big time. Not saying he'll come here and unearth a load of Asian gems, but he shows he has a good eye for talent when no one bar Brighton (who as we know have a good eye for talent) were the only other team after him.

Right, but that wasn't what you said. You mentioned age. Ten Haag was in his 50s before any big club from a big league was willing to actually give him a chance. Like you said, he was at Ajax for a decade. Why?

You have sold me on him. Unfortunately, Daniel Levy will ruin this man faster than you can say "let me introduce you to Eric and Pierre."

Nagelsmann is right there in Germany doing nothing but watching cartoons and eating cornflakes. There should be no other candidates

He's as high profile and highly regarded like Jose and conte, but he plays attacking football unlike them, is young, improves players, likes a project and has big club/big league experience

I mean surely a club the size of spurs uses every bit of it's financial muscle to tie him down To a long term contract, take his advice and let him got on with it

The mind boggles at how this club is run, it really does

Lopetegui is fed up at Wolves ??
My man, I was just reading about him on various outlets (both UK and Spain) and I had that feeling all of a sudden that he could well be our next boss...something I'd hate with a passion cause he sounds like a massive bellend.

Just had a text from my Spanish pal who supports Valencia and he's confirmed that Lopetegui is a cunt and really not liked by fans of most La Liga clubs and the national team.

Hopefully we don't get him in, even if he'd last just 6 ish months, like most on the list...

It's entirely possible Slot's agent was playing both Levy/Munn & Feyonoord.

The buyout for Slot was next summer, so it was irrelevant to our negotiations right now..

A week ago, Slot publicly said: "The next step will not be another club in Holland, if that is the next step and if I fail completely in the upcoming few years.
"The normal next step would be to go abroad and I've always said the best league in the world is the Premier League but when it comes to Italy you can see there are a few clubs playing in European finals now. There are more countries where it is interesting to go to in the future, but the Premier League is the biggest league in the world, that is clear."

So, if Slot was prepared to speak with forked tongue on the record, you can bet his agent was talking all kinds of shite off the record.
Absolutely.

They definitely knew what they were doing the whole time

Listened to yesterday’s podcast when having my afternoon run ( some would argue that it’s not running ) and I now think it actually is Ange.

Aussie Chief of football, Aussie tour this summer, no release fee, nice beard… All fits.

We can still hope they are keeping their distance and then making a move after the season ends.

If we really aren’t doing what it takes to get him, the decision makers are out of their tiny minds.

Levy has to know he can’t afford another bad appointment. Fuck ups catch up with everyone eventually.

I remember thinking we'd hire Ange when Munn was appointed. It does make me wonder if he was the main choice all along and everything else is either just noise,or the board just keeping their options open.

Levy looked at the market, with all the managers available and decided from the beginning that his best path was to build around a couple of B listers from the City Group?

They may both end up excellent but it would have been a ballsy plan.
