Nagelsmann is right there in Germany doing nothing but watching cartoons and eating cornflakes. There should be no other candidates

He's as high profile and highly regarded like Jose and conte, but he plays attacking football unlike them, is young, improves players, likes a project and has big club/big league experience

I mean surely a club the size of spurs uses every bit of it's financial muscle to tie him down To a long term contract, take his advice and let him got on with it

The mind boggles at how this club is run, it really does
Fucking spot on! However some on here seem to falling for the clubs choices and trying to convince themselves they are good. I mean starks seems to have his own agenda re Ange almost like he works for him based on the amount info he puts out. Crazy we are looking at all these “alternative”. Once JN was sacked by BM majority on here happy as Larry that he had fallen into our laps. Someone some great act of play worked out way. Also with poch available it was like we couldn’t believe our luck. Unfortunately we a board who couldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

Honestly those still giving them the benefit of the doubt or thinking this is part of some great strategic plan or that its the nasty media telling lies (some perhaps) despite all the evidence of inherent incompetence over the last few years then imo you're in denial i'm afraid.

I mean we might still get Naglesmann but it wont be because of any 3D chess from our board it will be blind panic and desperation as ever.

I'm not sure what that proves? Ali Gold is definitely not ITK and there's nothing but vague speculation in that piece. Probably fed off the other media bullshit.

(via Brian Fantana Brian Fantana )

There was also RTV Rijnmond involvement in the last 24hrs of that shitshow that really showed just how flawed the whole media circus is. They put up a piece that specifically stated "he wants to move to Tottenham". The piece also stated that the Clubs were only €5m apart in the compensation agreement. This piece was deleted approx 1hr after being posted. However, for the time it was up, it got picked up by other media outlets, each one spitting out the quotes. Not a single one checked or verified the source. Not one even noticed it was deleted. Now a tsunami of clicks and retweets were rippling around the world media including all forms from the biggest brands like BBC, and Sky down to Bill from Billericay sitting in his underpants in his parent's bedroom.

The worst thing is, because the state of this fanbase looking for shit to sling at the Club no one has called out the media for their involvement. They can print want they want, especially if it's about something that looks bad or has any negative connotation. The fanbase right now is actually magnifying the shit.

And all this for a coach that 74% (based on the poll) didn't want. In other times there would have been a relief or even celebration that it wasn't him. Oh no, in this case, Spurs fans are fuming!

And here's Fabrizio Romano saying the Slot deal collapsed because we don't have a DoF structure in place, and because we weren't prepared to pay 15 million or more compensation to Feyonoord.

This patently was not smoke without fire. Levy & Munn made a move for Slot, didn't do their due diligence, and were publicly humiliated.

The useless tossers.

Don't believe him either.

Get's his info from agents as well.

If they get the best manager for the gig, it's still a good decision. Same way it will be a bad decision if they take their time, come up with a plan and still choose the wrong one.

Either way, this is surely levy's last wring choice. He has to get this one right.

Sure, in the scheme of things if they get a good manager i suppose it doesnt really matter how. But if everything is panic with no planning we're equally as likely to get someone completely unsuitable.

Yup and we have been here before recently.

In their defense, they were never appointing anyone before the end of the season. If things move quickly after today, then they don't need to panic.

If they keep dithering, we will see story after story from the media about managers turning them down and pre-season will start creeping up.

hmmmmm....

15 million pounds compensation. Fcuk that sh!t.

I think it's better to just wait and see what happens at this stage, although the clock has been ticking for too long.

It seems to be the DoF or lack of that is hindering us both with Naglesmann and Slot. I really cant see any reason why that hasnt been done. Agree that the next few days will be telling, if they've announced both in the next few days and they seem good choices then i would happily eat humble pie. If we're this time next week with nothing its a shit show.

He also said in a podcast yesterday that the manager and director of football has a direct impact on Kane staying or not. The project (I hate that word in a football sense, it means nothing and we don’t operate like that anyway) is more important to him than money. Get the riding manager and director of football in and Kane will stay. It just makes the Nagelsmann situation so strange. He’s sitting there available and willing to come in with a DoF who he can work with and you’d expect Kane to be happy with him, yet we don’t look like we want him. It’s fucking strange. As strange as not picking up the phone to Poch, if not stranger.

Yeah and really most Spurs fans would bet on the shit show not the humble pie right now.

The concern is that Levy and Munn really are looking to sign players and appoint managers without a DOF or head of recruitment in place. Levy thinking his mistake with Paratici was handing over control, not who he handed it to and not giving up enough control.

Long time Celtic and Spurs fan here. Wanting to give my honest opinion on Ange. From a Celtic POV I’d be gutted if he left but from a Spurs POV i’d be delighted. There is a lot of nonsense posted regarding the standard he has coached at. A good coach is a good coach, a good player is a good player. We have eyes. We can see what we are witnessing. When Van Dijk was at Celtic you could tell instantly he was a class act….and a reminder that Celtic’s defence was a disaster when he played, but you could just tell that he oozed class.

there cannot be anyone who seriously thinks Rodgers is a better choice than Ange? It has been night and day watching Ange’s team to watching Rodgers’ team. Rodgers inherited a decent a Celtic team, Celtic were a shambles when Ange took over. Rangers reached the Europa League final last season and twice in the last 12 months we have absolutely battered them, playing football they simply couldn’t cope with.

Furthermore, his knowledge of the Asian market is outstanding. We picked up Reo Hatate for £3 million, three million quid. An absolute steal. Spurs should be appointing Ange purely to get Hatate. I genuinely think Hatate is a gem. Of course there are rumours Brighton have already agreed to sign him, that’s what well run clubs do, they are not fixated on “standard of league”, as I said, a good player is a good player, whether they play in Scotland, Serbia, or Southend.

Lastly, the way he has dealt with the media has been a joy to behold. Most of the media in Scotland have a rangers bias, he has just swotted them away with ease. Asked about Rangers appointing a new manager, “I’ve given it as much thought as what I am having for dinner tonight”

celtic fans were equally as sceptic when they appointed him, they worship him now

He’s not selling it before he dies. Only then might we see a change in circumstances and even that’s an unknown.

It's definitely not the time to be selling any London equity. Recession coming, that's when the predators buy equity not sell.

But if the performance starts to mess with the value of the investment, or we end up in a relegation battle, the knives will come out.

Which would be harsh for Levy. I'm not one of those that thinks he doesn't care. He definitely wants the club to do well but he's lost sight of what worked for him which was getting the right football people in with Redknapp and Poch.

The club made an enquiry, nothing more, he is just a name on a list. If Levy really wanted Slot he would get him with no problem at all. Remember this is the same Arnie Slot who was begging to join Leeds a few months ago. Don't believe everything Fab Romano dreams up in his cupboard.

My reading of this is slightly different.

I think what Kane actually wants is the culture that Poch created in his early years, and the progressive football that came with it. He's sick & tired of the uber-cautious approaches of post-Poch managers, and their MO of creating divisiveness.

Eg Mourinho going after players. Conte never being prepared to commit to our club.

Both Kane & Mason have spoken of the critical importance of culture, and Poch said Kane & Mason were the Spurs players who most bought into & lived his philosophy.

Players interact most regularly with the Head Coach, not the DoF. So the culture is created by Head Coach, not the DoF.

With hindsight, what I think Rangnick was saying is not "I want the Spurs DoF job", but rather Spurs need a DoF with real power to oversee recruitment alongside the Head Coach, and get Levy entirely out of the process. In other words, Levy has to relinquish his power to interfere, and leave footballing decisions entirely to the DoF & Head Coach.

In such circumstances, Kane would feel JN is a great coach, with the power none of his predecessors had to create & deliver a footballing culture & philosophy at Spurs. So I'll sign a highly lucrative contract, and not have to move my family.
