"Mura are a good team" "we're gonna have to play good" - great insights gaffer, been working on the play good tactic much this week have we???

When you gonna makes us proud?

The interview was like when you bump into someone at the shop you know, but you don't really like, but they keep fucking talking to you when you just want them to get the fuck out of your face.
But this is a duty come with the manager job. If he can't learn to deal with it, then he better off coaching a team with much lower press coverage, and expectation; or just go to smaller league. As we grow as a club, the anti-Spurs is only going to grow noisier and more aggressive with history of Woolwich love in in the media.

The only narrow chance of survival this bloke has is to figure out his best 11 quick, like Poch did after numerous early mistakes. Right now he doesn’t look like he knows a few players best position, let alone how they fit together. A couple suggestions:

  • No more Dele, you have to build the team around his weird skillset and he’s not worth that anymore.
  • Go forth with Skipp and Tanganga, they’ve showed more spirit than the rest of the squad combined this year.
  • Like it or not, Ndombele and Lo Celso are your only creative midfielders, one or both needs to play centrally in every game if you want to create anything.
  • Romero is your building block at the back, all effort should be utilized to which of Dier, Sanchez, and Rodon he’s most comfortable pairing with.
  • Get your three best attackers on the field. One of Gil, Moura, or Bergwijn should be a mainstay next to Son and Kane. Figure it out and play them unless they aren’t available for selection. Currently, I think Gil might be the one.
  • Sort your fucking subs out. If we’re healthy, you could very well have Ndombele, Bergwijn, Gil, and Dele to try to change games with. It’s not great, but it’s not horrible either.
For me, I’d be trying this as a starting 11 for a few games to see if they can gel. We need a little bit of stability.

Lloris
Tanganga Romero Rodon OR Dier Reguilon
Skipp Hojbjerg
Son GLC OR TND Gil
Kane

There's been more than enough matches for Nuno to have figured out his preferred XI and formation and there's really no reason not to start them against Villa. So no pressure or anything but if he doesn't get a performance out of the team Sunday he's fucked.

I think we have to go with a back 3:

Lloris
Tanganga-Romero-Rodon
Emerson-PEH-Skipp-Reggie
GLC
Kane-Son
I don't hate the team, about as good as we can field. But that midfield 4 or 5, just so little quality there and with Nuno's methods, I think the same struggles will persist. A different coach would probably get more from them, at least in attack. But even then, it'd only go so far I think.

The midfield issue, in my view, is a player issue not formation issue. With any formation the MF is going to be a problem. What I hope for in that formation is that we could use the wingbacks to do a lot of ball progression and give PEH and Skipp more space and less pressure by widening the field and pulling defenders out of the MF.

I agree though I would much prefer only one of Skipp/PEH and a quality MFer next to them that can progress the ball.

Definitely could see that as a good option, but it will be very reliant on what Emerson and Reguilon can do going forward, which makes me nervous. We haven’t had quality two-way fullback/wingback play since Walker left.
