You'll be the first one to shit on the manager if he struggles to get results or doesn't get backed. You always are.

Perhaps you can show posts where I have done that and also that it's what I always do??

Oh that's right you can't... :mourfinger:

Honest John Honest John I await your apology.

Not a slur on Nuno here but I just watched his interview on Spurs TV and sentences confirmed beyond all doubt why he's here and none of the big names are.

"We have a talented squad here and I know we have talent in the academy if we need to bring them through"

Which roughly translates to "I know that I'm not getting any money, I know I have to work with what I have and worst case, there's some 16 year olds to make uk the numbers"

This exactly what I expected from Levy. A yes man.
yes but TBF, he's hardly going to shake a wedge of cash at the press for every club to eye-up. We can't read too much into this.

At this point though, I've gone from trusting Levy in matters like this

I really fancied ETH (but I accept risks involved around no pl experience and the ajax 'bubble). Conte would've been great from a 'big name 'perspective but I have a feeling it would have gone the Mourinho route.

Fonseca, I didn't initially want, but I liked the sound of the attacking football and feel it would've been entertaining at least.

Gattuso = Bleurgh. No thanks.

Potter, I started out not wanting, but given the way our search was going, I would've happily taken him a couple of weeks ago.
yes, I can't help but feel Nuno is someone who they will be able to tell pretty quickly if it's working or not.

A new manager from outside the PL will have the added complication of "is he still adjusting to life and the league?" questions.

Nuno is someone who can work within certain constraints, unlike other managers I expect the club have set an expectation and he has agreed to that, unlike someone like Conte who is more likely to state what he needs to win the league.

Ultimately I feel Levy wants Poch back, if he gets booted out of PSG in the next year Levy will be circling. He needs his mate and brand (sorry DNA) back.

Playing career[edit]

Cathro played youth football for Forfar Athletic and Brechin City.[2]

Coaching career[edit]

Youth coach[edit]

After working as a local youth coach in Dundee, Cathro became the head of Dundee United's youth academy at the age of 22.[3] During his time with Dundee United, he also worked for the Scottish Football Association's local youth programme.[3] Ryan Gauld has cited Cathro as one of the biggest influences on his career.[4][5]

Assistant manager[edit]

In 2012, he became the assistant manager of Portuguese club Rio Ave.[3] In 2014, he followed Nuno, his manager at Rio Ave, to Spanish club Valencia, where he also became assistant manager.[1][6] The two had first met at an SFA coaching course in Scotland in 2009.[1][6] He resigned his Valencia post on 11 June 2015.[7]
A fortnight later, he agreed to join Premier League side Newcastle United as assistant to Steve McClaren, the recently appointed manager.[8] When McClaren was sacked by Newcastle United in March 2016 and replaced by Rafa Benítez,[9] Cathro was thought highly enough of to be retained as assistant manager.[9]

Heart of Midlothian[edit]

Cathro was appointed head coach of Scottish Premiership club Heart of Midlothian on 5 December 2016.[10] The appointment caused some debate within Scottish football. Kilmarnock player Kris Boyd questioned whether such a young manager, with limited playing experience, could command the respect of the squad.[11] Hearts performed poorly in the second half of the 2016–17 season, winning 5 of 22 league games after Cathro was appointed.[12] They fell to fifth place in the league and were knocked out of the 2016–17 Scottish Cup by their Edinburgh derby rivals Hibernian.[12] After Hearts failed to qualify from the 2017–18 Scottish League Cup group stage,[13] Cathro was sacked.[12][14] Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said that there appeared to be a "confused" approach at Hearts, with a mismatch between the style of play Cathro wanted to implement and the type of players signed by the club.[15][16] After Cathro left, Hearts interim manager Jon Daly and player Cole Stockton claimed that the physical training under Cathro had lacked intensity.[17]

Wolves[edit]

After almost a year out of football, Cathro was appointed first-team coach at Wolverhampton Wanderers in June 2018, linking up again with Nuno, who Cathro worked with in Portugal and Spain.[18]

Was appointed manager of hearts had a hellish time based football more as a science Chris Sutton tore him to shreds few other pundits were willing to be more open minded about his methods but the Scottish game wasn’t willing to adapt so opted for the hoof ball route and bulk up on porridge & irn bru.

Hence they’ve landed Man City on us first game hoping upon hope Kane rocks up in a city shirt fuck them and everything they stand for the more free streams people get the better.
I think the fact that we've got them first match, will only encourage Levy to drag it out to the very last second.... If its right to the wire he might not have time to get in the team and play against us.

It will be a sad day seeing him trot out in full kit for Saudi FC

After suffering last season with dropping points because we tried to hang onto a 1 goal lead and failed, I do not expect a repeat. Nuno must have made the right noises about attacking play to get the job but can he play winning Football. I listened to his Video and all about improving players but cannot recall anything about winning. We do need at least 1 better CB to improve on last season and that now is the priority.

Honest question here, if he fails and this appointment goes to shit, are the people defending Levy finally going to ask for his head? Or are they just going to blame the DOF forgetting who hired the DOF in the first place?

Because from what I am reading it seems that the message now is that we should all just be happy with the appointment and accept the outcome unless it all goes to shit?

So should people not protest now that we have a manager? Should we forget all the shit Levy has done over the last few months and the lies he has told (and continues to tell?) It really does feel like since we have signed Nuno a portion of people feel very emboldened all of a sudden and outspoken.

Don't get me wrong, I want Nuno to succeed because I want the club to succeed but I am not going to sit here and pretend like everything is suddenly ok, it's clearly not and will not be until the conman has left the football club.

History repeats itself with Levy.
Ask yourself this :

If he succeeds and we win a trophy and finish in the top 4 will the people now attacking Levy give him credit?

Or will they conviently forget (or claim luck) that Levy appointed the the DOF, who bought/sold players and who in turn appointed the manager?

It works both ways.

Nobody is saying that all is forgiven for Levy.
What people are saying is exactly what you have said :
It's OK to criticise Levy and support the new manager at the same time.

no, not far away and have spent serval years working in town but no. Do I need to stick with it then? made me think of Scum TV and what a crock of embarrassing shite that is

Expressions is funny; fits in loads of subtle references, play on words etc. when analysing football. Ask KaneDomBadBoy KaneDomBadBoy
