So is the Nuno Out meltdown over for now?
In my case, no. It still does not make sense to me that we replace Mourinho with a less successful version of his approach. I thought Nuno was a bad choice when he was hired, when we were winning, when we were losing three in a row, and now. I'm always glad to see Spurs win and hopefully I'm wrong about Nuno. But I don't think in the long run that's the case.

There never was a meltdown so I guess not.

This level of ambition is grim.

It's just the best I think this squad/manager can achieve. Anything else would be astounding to me.

We all want more, but realistically the top 4 teams are well beyond us in terms of squad quality right now. Looking at being the 'best of the rest' wouldn't be the end of the world for us, and we can build back from there.

He got the win. We can build on that. The goals and the confidence will come.

For me, the acid test for a confident team is a team that can go a goal down and then win 3-1. A team that relies on scoring first and keeping a clean sheet is a team without a plan B. A quick response to Villa's equaliser was encouraging but there is still some work to be done. Nuno will get there.

It was a good win today and I’m pleased that Dele Winks and Doherty didn’t start

Nuno still has some sorting out to do starting with Dier
At fault for their goal and could have cut that cross out but let it go because he probably wasn’t aware of who was behind him and then a pathetic attempt to claim it was offside

Romero Rodon in the centre of the defence in future

So is the Nuno Out meltdown over for now?

What meltdown.

He still fucking started the fucking NLD without midfield. He still stood there like pathetic piece of shit when our beloved Spurs were ripped apart by our archrival.

How pathetic you have to be to forgive such humiliation after 1 narrow and nervy win against bottom half team at home ?!?!
We allowed them to come back to game, there were significant periods where they played better then us, and we faced 14 shots out of which 3 were on target. AT HOME. Against bottom half / relegation fodder team.

Of course I am happy if Spurs win a game. I want us to win every game we play. And 3 points in the bag are important.

But yesterday was not nearly enough to convince me that this manager has in him what we need.

To be fair to him he seems to be figuring out what we all knew e.g. dropping Winks and Dele and playing Skip with PEH.

Hopefully as he gets to know the squad he can settle on the best team and know who to rely on and who not too. I'm hoping he can identify we need more creativity and more depth in strikers.

To be fair to the dullard, he’s weening out the meek losers like Winks, Doherty, Sanchez, Davies etc which is good to see, and we are only a few games into the season. He’s also learning from his mistakes and making changes eg abandoning that reckless formation vs Goons (should have been done at 2-0 at half time to be fair).

Did anyone notice how he didn’t speak to the sun coming on yesterday? That’s seems odd to me, very hands off

This is nothing against Villa, I have no issues with them as a club, but yesterday was such a nothing of game we can't take any serious notes from it.

I didn't think Villa were particularly threatening for the most part. And, the biggest issue for Spurs for the last 3 years now is shitting the bed in big games. And I'm sorry, Villa at home, on a Sunday, in a game not even televised, is not a big game.

Examples of the type of game where I want to see a change
When we're the favourite to win against a rival - IE Woolwich away. Very often we go there in better form and it looks like it's finally time for an away win. And then we put in horrific performances, ones that simply don't even come close to deserving anything.
When we've had a nice little run of games and pushed up the league a bit and then have a fairly routine game where we can move into the top 4 or stay top for an extra week and - much like the example above, fail to show up.

Yesterday just wasn't the game where we can judge an improvement IMO. Let's wait until after the international break. Man United play Leicester, Liverpool away to Watford who may have the new coach bounce, West Ham play Everton, Chelsea away to Brentford who will give it 110%
Every chance teams in and around us will drop points. That's the kind of game where the stars align to give us a shot and we fuck it up. We then have West Ham away in their cup final followed by United at home. By the time United come to Spurs I suspect pressure will be sky high on OGS and we may be around the same points as them. There for the taking and.......

Villa looked like the mid table team they are yesterday. We need to put these teams away though for sure as they can be dangerous on their day.

Assuming we can get a better coach, I am still Nuno out. That debacle against Woolwich is still very fresh in my mind, we allowed an average team to dominate us.

For now, he has at least changed tactics a little bit and we were more creative against Villa. Would love him to prove me wrong and go on to do great things with the club, but I just don't really believe that he will.

Having said that, who else is there to take the job right now? Conte is out of work, but I don't see him taking over and if he did, I would assume he'd want a summer transfer window to work with. Potter isn't going to leave Brighton right now, again, maybe in the summer. Who are the other candidates that would take the job right now, rather than the summer?

The guy has made so many fundamental, inexcusable errors with selections, substitutions and formations I have almost zero confidence in him. One decent result at home doesn't change much, but was nice to finally see Beardy pick the right bloody team and formation - which has been obvious to most of us for weeks.

He remains the wrong man for the job and a temporary stop-gap.
