Grinding isn’t the issue. Grinding is what the seniors do mostly, despite having some good players. If they’d tried playing football they might have beat an individually weaker Italy at Wembley.
They played the whole game with only Chuckwuemeka in midfield. Nobody else wanted the ball between the end thirds.
Which is remarkably similar to the seniors. Especially against anyone half decent.
The seniors switched off at a set piece, if they didn’t they beat Italy 1-0. Agree there’s work to do on trying to control games better but fundamentally England are strongest on the break & attacking set pieces. Most of our midfielders are energetic and tenacious more than technical.
I thought the seniors did reasonably well at keeping the ball in the Euros up till the final. Dominated vs Denmark & Croatia (with a Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic midfield) and weren’t too far behind vs Germany either.
Post Euros the whole teams gone downhill though, so a different story.
