Brilliant defensive midfielder .. thought he totally shut down City in the 2nd leg of the CL & Liverpool as well.

But this has all the hallmarks of a 'last huge contract' move & could very quickly go wrong. If he keeps up his current level though he solves a lot of midfield issues for United.

Casemiro just coming out of his peak, £60m and £430k a week

Man Utd - what a club
On paper he might well look like the ideal signing to someone there, but JFC this is the exact opposite of the kind of move they need to be making...

Once again going for the "statement" signing to paper over the cracks, he will rock up to rainy Manchester, pick up his wages for a couple of years and not give a flying fuck about performances or results.

I mean I'm happy about that prospect, but how is this so blindingly obvious to me and yet somebody at Man Utd getting paid an awful lot more than me cannot see it?

Shocking money

Never been impressed by him whenever I've seen him at club level or for England's under teams. Think he will end up one of those players that look too good for the Championship at times but don't do anything of note when the step up to the Premier League.

Regarding the ridiculous sums of money Nottingham Forest are spending, I note that wikipedia provides links to published media articles and does not like getting sued.

In this context, the sections in Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis' wiki entry entitled:

Controversy - Sports (which includes match fixing investigations)

Controversy - Alleged Drug Trafficking (rumours of 10 dead witnesses - though the source "failed wiki verification")

are not without interest.....

The Vampire Ship

Can’t confirm this is all factual but this is an insanely detailed article about his possible involvement in heroin trafficking.

As most rich and potentially corrupt businessman do, he naturally blamed the radical left in Greece for trying to destroy him.

Fascinating article. Some proper journalism in there. Thank you.

At the very least, Marinakis has political connections from Beijing to Washington, from Erdogan to intelligence agencies.

There is no way anyone could read that article and consider Marinakis a fit and proper person to own a PL club. But he's not the only one in that category....
