No, he really wasn't, he's just an academy player so he gets overhyped to a silly degree, before people will eventually turn on him like they did on Winks.
The reason Skipp is hyped is precisely because people compare him to the likes of Winks. Skipp works hard, shows up for the ball, isnt afraid of getting hurt while Winks is timid , easily manhandled etc. The only way people will turn on Skipp is if he starts hiding like Winks does.

Spot on

Also far braver on the ball like mugs like Wanks and PEH. Can pass the ball first time, forward and take the ball under pressure

When I'm talking about bias for Skipp and against Hojbjerg this is what I'm talking about. To my knowledge Skipp has never had a goal contribution for us, Hojbjerg basically won us the match against City two weeks ago.

What a simplistic view of football. Emerson's insane 1v1 duel against Grealish had a bigger role in our victory than anything else.

It's simplistic to think Hojbjerg is much braver on the ball than Skipp? I can give you stats if you want, I preferred going with a recent example. Last time I checked you can't win a game without scoring goals, and Hojbjerg created our only goal.

Can't say skipp is braver on the ball, but he certainly makes himself available for a pass in a way which PEH does not.

PEH also needs a lot of time and space to play out the back, skipp has his head on a swivel in comparison, and quickly moves the ball forward.

As for goals, we created many other chances but failed to score those. It's not like PEH is doing stuff like that with any regularity.

I don’t demand a CM to win us matches, we have five attackers to do that. I want someone who is consistent, and effective in the middle third at spinning the ball forward, zipping it around and covering runners.

Skipps a DM that creates space for others to be more expressive whilst PEH plays further up the field. With Norwich, he got 1 goal and 2 assists and made it in to the PFA Championship team of the year! Judging Skipps game on goal contributions is a pretty terrible metric to judge his ability

PEH is our most involved player in most matches, I don't know how he could do that while apparently not making himself available for passes. He's also had 10 goal contributions in the PL + CL this season, I don't know what you consider regular for a CM, but for me that's decent, certainly better than 0 across several seasons for Skipp.

Skipp was covering runners? Have you seen him trying to stop Leao? I also don't get where this forward passes thing is coming from. He's not a progressive passer of the ball, I really don't know where people are getting this from, his one assist for Norwich?

He has 1 goal and 1 assist for Norwich as far as I can tell, over 45 matches, in the Championship. He's done well there I grant you, he's also done well in the minutes he got vs. Preston. I've yet to see him impress vs. higher level opposition. I hope he does, he still has room to grow.

PEH work rate is absolutely not in question. He has discipline and understanding. Does what he's meant to do and is a very solid member of the squad.

From a subjective point of view, Skipp and Sarr can do things that Hoj will never be in terms of being able to play on the half turn and help us beat the press.

Stats aren't everything. Would you really argue Hoj is better than Bentancur because he's more involved and has more goal contributions?

How many assist did Modric get? We will never agree on this. I’m absolutely adamant we won’t show any consistency, or control games with the 10K signing from Southampton

No stats aren't everything, but zero goal contributions for a player people are are trying to gas up as "brave on the ball" is just bad.

We probably will agree on this eventually, just remember this discussion in 2-3 years. It's best to let it lie for now though.

Did you not watch the Milan game? Judging a DM solely on goal contributions is beyond pointless

We’ve had three years of the Danish chugger, and all I’ve seen is us getting dominated, not controlling games and getting managers sacked
