"Legacy Fan"

Birth of "The Tottenham Way". Important for Spurs fans to know the origins of the term as it's been hijacked by so many clubs, but if you want to destroy a West Ham fans when they bang on about the west ham way, then best you know about where and why the term came from.

BTW the same author also wrote an excellent article on History - Vic Buckingham Vic Buckingham, one of the most influential managers of all-time, who was coached by Peter McWilliam and one of the products of "The Tottenham Way".

Cheers for this. It's worth remembering, because as you say, Spurs really do have a particular way of doing things, and it is unique. Especially in the context of English football.

First in many things but this is the most important, as it's a philosophy of not only the style of play but how to achieve it and nurture it. It's our DNA. Look to all the most successful periods in our history and the philosophy is present. Fast forward to Poch and what he's doing it's the same, promoting youth and using academy products (although there should be more IMO).

When the other clubs talk of their "way" none of their supporters really know what it is, invariably they revert to a period of when they were good e.g West Ham fans default to Greenwood days when they try to explain what it is. This is what happens when it's fake and copied, said without meaning or relevance.

Danger is younger fans at Spurs will do the same, I think to this day we are missing an opportunity to document this period properly, this is a book waiting to be written for any budding writers out there.

It's great to see McWilliams mentioned on here. He managed us in 2 spells and promoted several players from our nursery side Northfleet notably William E Nicholson.

I have a Facebook page 'The history of Tottenham Hotspur ' where his name is mentioned frequently.

As pointed out above its so important that we continue to talk about our heroes of yesteryear to bring fans young and old together.
