I disagree with this, Ten Hag has already built a reputation of being one of the best emerging managers who favors positional play, which is what’s successful in football these days. It’s no coincidence that he’s drawn interest of clubs like Juventus, Bayern or Leipzig.

Meanwhile, Potter’s only admirers are a Twitter account that keeps track of some useless xG stats and Nabil Bentaleb on this forum.
The thing that's weird about Ten Hag and labeling him "emerging" is that he's already 51.

The Tea Lady says the Rafa Benitez is now clear favorite!

At this point everything beyond Potter/Rangnick seems to be people reporting on betting markets. Parker is probably the only other actual option but he seems like the "pull here in case of emergency" scenario. There is some Allegri talk but I think he may be heading back to Italy.

At this point the greatest barrier to a manager coming in is likely Levy, not the squad or anything else. Even Potter would want to bring a couple of his scouting staff with him and give them more control than Levy is used to.

I don’t know there are other options like Lopetegui who may attract Levy’s interest and have done well although they would also be gambles having to move and work in the prem.

Right now German managers seem to play a style which fits our league so Rangnick is understandable. But I would most prefer Rangnick as DoF and Potter as coach. That would be my choice.

I think I’ve mentioned it already a few times but would like to see Graham Potter given the chance to manage Spurs

Martinez rumours are really starting to freak me out and are annoying because it’s the type of Levy appointment we don’t need.

Messsed up big time when he was Everton boss and we can only hope if Belgium do well at the Euros this summer that Martinez can’t and won’t be credited with that.
with golden generation Belgium currently have at there disposal I’m sure Christian Gross could make them look good.

Don't fall for the bullshit Mr Levy and AVOID Martinez AT ALL COSTS and hire Potter 😃

Martinez can coach to attack but his teams always look shit in defence, he is a like a poor mans Wenger. Brighton look very solid at the back in terms of team shape so less worried about Potter.

The entire footballing operation needs to be rebuilt and I think Rangnick understands where that side of the game is moving. For that reason I think he's target #1. I prefer, like you, him as a DoF with a progressive manager like Potter...but if he says he wants to manage as well I think I'd take it, because we need the overhaul of the whole system badly.

Benitez I could probably live with. Yes, he is a bit defensive. But he is certainly more likeable than Jose and tends to get his players on side except for his Inter spell.

Not ideal and I would still prefer someone like Glasner, Rangnick or Potter. But if it Benitez I would get behind him.

I would had been with Benitez when Mourinho came but not now. Another step in the wrong direction

I certainly want an attacking manager now after the Jose mess and it seems at least reading this forum the hunger is there for many of us. We need a new direction like we had when Poch came in. And for all Benitez’s ability that isn’t him.

I see Benitez has a guy that can steady a ship and take it too a secure location. But someone to build the ship? I don’t think so. Quality manager but not what the team needs imo

A safe pair of hands to see the club through a period of transition might be just what Levy is looking for, right or wrong.

But again, while Benitez is a stabilizing influence on a dressing room and a good coach, he's bitched and moaned about transfer business everywhere he's ever been.

Also, we're never going to stop appointing ex-Chelsea managers are we? Big Phil Scolari to be bookies' favorite within the week. Where's Gianluca Vialli these days? Is Geoff Hurst still alive?

Tripps was crap
So is Doherty and Aurier is too inconsistent but played well yesterday

In hindsight, for me at least, Tripps wasn't as bad as he looked and it was probably more of a problem of tactics and positioning of him. The point is that we thought that selling Tripps for decent money was another case of Levy pulling a fast one on another club, but we ended up neutral or worse off by making the move.

There have been plenty of times over the past year where I would have taken Trippier back as opposed to our current options.

Can confirm. Hurst is still alive somehow.

Selling Tripps wasn't quite the coup we thought it was though, was it? Definitely better than Doherty and competition for Serge for sure.
Unfortunately, the RB position has been a curse for us in recent years:

Walker - probably our best but prone to silly mistakes
Naughton - sadly not good enough
Walker-Peters - still think he should have been given more time, and although I don't think he'd ever be a starter for a top 4 team, a decent back-up
Trippier - had an absolutely abysmal final season, which people seem to forget. Just off the top of my head:
> shambolic OG at Stamford Bridge,
> at fault for City's first and third goals in the CL QF (1st - let Sterling cut inside, 3rd - let the ball go across him, seemingly unaware Sterling was behind him),
> at fault for Ajax's goal at home (played everyone onside),
> partially at fault for Ajax's second goal away (looked for a foul from the ref instead of playing on).
I wouldn't have sold him, but he was simply not good enough in 2018-19.
Aurier - braindead fucking dick who has cost us more times than I care to remember. Off the top of my head:
> 0-3 up v West Ham (a) (2018). He gets a straight read in the 60-somthingth minute for a pointless dangerous tackle. We end up holding on to a 2-3 win
> 2-1 down v Juve (a) (2018), and he lunges in to concede a penalty just after we'd got back into the game. Luckily for us, Higuain missed.
> 0-2 v Chelsea (a) (2019). He gives away an unnecessary corner (could have headed it anyway) and is then asleep as it is taken quickly. Willian scores
> 2-0 v City (h) (2020). Gives away a brainless penalty. Luckily Lloris saves it.
> 3-3 v West Ham (h). Gave away the FK that lead to their 3rd goal.
> 0-2 v Leicester (h) (2020). Gives away a brainless penalty just before HT.
> 1-0 v City (n). Gives away a needless FK whence they score.
Doherty - another donkey. No pace, no skill, no intelligence. Dogshit player.
