Given that Brighton's problem is supposedly that they miss so many chances, is it reasonable to assume that

(a) Potter can't coach strikers

and/or

(b) He failed to address this weakness both last summer and in January?

I would argue that when it comes to finishing that is more on the natural talent of the striker than the coach. You can work at it but you either got it or you ain’t. Point B is valid although I don’t know how Brighton structure their transfers.

Will he be better at Spurs when Kane and Son go? Bale may not stay another season. We're down to possibly Vinnie, Lucas, Lamela, Bergwijn as our attack.

Brighton mk2

See, when you sell a player for 100m plus that sometimes gives you the leeway to spend a little and bring in new attacking players to replace the ones you've sold. Plenty of good attackers in the world if we lose any of those three

Do not forget Irvine Scholar's mismanagement and the fact that he almost allowed Robert Maxwell to buy the club. The thing with Sugar as bad as he was he managed to navigate us out of a massive amount of debt.
And a six point deduction but he’s still a cunt imv

A Potter hiring would be extremely similar to Poch 7 years ago, when he was second choice to Van Guul. Levy went with the big name 18 months ago and the club went backwards.

Really don’t know what the obsession with a big name is. Jose, AVB etc all turned to shit. We need a manager that fits what we need as a club not some Hollywood lights.

Does the manager.

1 play modern attacking football
2 get the best out of what he has got
3 show a development arch

If he can’t do these he shouldn’t be on any list. Just think if we had gotten the big name Van Gaal instead of the nobody Pochettino.

I wasn't into either of the above at that time. But from memory, Poch was highly regarded everywhere. He came with the "student of Bielsa" headline and all the football philosophy talk.
We were also top 4 outsiders, our squad was a joke, we weren't close to the new stadium. It was a safer bet on a somewhat unknown.

Now we have a billion pound stadium, have had 4 years at the top table, have 2 superstars we would like to keep. Should we be looking at the bargain bucket risk, or should we be looking at the absolute best available anywhere?

What's his style of football?

If Potters Brighton were 8th in the league then yeah would be quite similar

Comparing what Poch did at Southampton to what Potter has done at Brighton is a joke
