Comfortable home win.

They're coming off the back of getting bummed out of the cup by Palace at home, which was preceded by a hugely disappointing draw at home to Bournemouth which would have felt like a defeat under the circumstances.

Whereas our confidence should be flying having put Man City's youth to the sword

We beat Manchester City FC period:
Its 11v11 on the park and our players wanted the game more
So credit where credit is due!

Without Van De Ven, I’d start Sarr over Maddison for extra protection. I think we will win. I won’t predict the score but I will predict that Villa will score a goal on the counter at the back post with no Tottenham player in sight….

Sky Prediction

I'm absolutely bouncing to be able to get 10/11 with Sky Bet on Aston Villa avoiding defeat.

This Tottenham team still are a great watch but not one to take seriously when it comes to challenging for top honours.

The opposite can be said of Aston Villa, who aren't overly flamboyant but boy are they efficient and posses a streetwise manager in Unai Emery. Tottenham have lost nine of their last 16 Premier League games - only Wolves (12) have lost more since mid-April and the injury to Micky van de Ven only weakens them further.

If you take Man City out of the equation and just include Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Woolwich, Emery has lost two of his last 12 away days against those teams and has beaten Spurs twice at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Villa.

Emery can celebrate his 53rd birthday on Sunday with a victory that should mean he's in for a good evening.

Pretty shocking stat in there. I know our home form has been good, and that does give me some optimism. But 9 losses in the last 16 PL games? Shambolic.

Villa are everything we are not. Better than the sum of their parts, able to get results when not playing well etc

I just think we will be in for another disappointing afternoon and beating an under strength City side hasn't changed my mind about us.
Emry must've had 6 paper-rounds, as a kid, and all of them uphill; as he looks closer to 63, than 53.

I’m worried about this game but take solace in the fact that Villa fans will be more worried than us. Our performances have been much better than our results with the exception of the palace game and our home form is strong.

If we show up with the right mentality and intensity this should be a win, but we will have to grind out a result with our injuries.

4-0

Ah, the universal last 16 games metric.

Wonder if that conveniently cuts off at the Newcastle game. Before which we had 7 wins and 3 draws in the previous 12. (Inc beating Villa 4-0).

We can always cherry pick.

Villa have 5 wins in their last 13 league games. Spurs have 6 wins (and more cleansheets too)

We've got a better defence. Better attack. And when we beat them Sunday we'll be 2 points behind them before they have to travel to Anfield.

Yet half the people in here don’t give a chance

A striker of note, a defensive midfielder, and a central defender. Of course by the time we get all 3, we will lose those who are competent as things stand.
We have a striker, he just gets zero service cause you know...If Dom (who's been at the club about 8 mins btw) had had plenty chances and he was stuck on 2 or 3 goals, then yeah. But poor lad hasn't even had scraps to feed on.

Beast mode DM is a must...has been for ages.

CB - as a whole, it's a tad underwhelming if I'm honest. That area needs to be given some serious thoughts by the powers that be. Like with the 6, such a key position seen how we play under the big fella. Romero - VdV - Radu - Ben isn't a good enough pack.

You can add to the shopping list a backup goalie (one that can really push Vic), better FB x 2 (enjoy the bench Udo), better wingers x 2 and a proper backup CF (ta da Richy).

Well I don't... And that's MY prediction!

We're all welcome to our own opinions I guess...

I'm just sick of the constant narrative driven negativity when it comes to Spurs!

We've got ONE job, to support the team... Not turn up predicting a defeat...

Don't go then! or if you're not going, don't watch!
Save yourself the 'inevitable' misery!
How to say "you're entitled to your opinion as long as it matches mine" without saying it.

Hope not, want a win for my 1st visit of the season. Picked up a pair in the South standing today. Then checked trains and it's rail replacement buses. Fuck sake. Other half to the rescue. She's off to Hemel for the day so getting dropped off and picked up from Turkey Street. Old School day of drinking and football for me and daughter #1's boyfriend. Be leaving home about 10am and getting back about 7pm i reckon.

UTS!
Have a blast, my man
