Priority Number 1 - Full Backs!

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It may be worth taking into consideration that Davies' production in terms of goals and assists is better than we've ever seen from Rose. And imo he is the better defender of the two, although he may have more difficulty in 1v1s against quick attackers.

And that for me is where stats are misleading.

Regardless of goals and assist stats - just by watching the games, Rose from 2015/2016 is still the superior player and a much more important player in our line up for our style of play.

Same with Trippier/Walker - loads of people were bringing up Trippier's stats at the back end of last season for why we wouldn't miss Walker when it's clear that stats are not the be all and end all, especially when judging a wing back.

Yet fast forward a year and we're still not 100% sure on our wing backs, always rotating (we RARELY rotated when Walker and Rose were on form for us), are worse off in the league, Rose is still being touted with moves away to the biggest club in the country and Walker just won the league and voted into the PFA TOTY, again)

Going forward isn't a massive problem. If Kane is fit, he plays. Llorente hasn't worked out and a replacement is obviously needed, but that being said when Kane was injured last month, we didn't have any problem scoring goals with Son, Lamela, Dele, and Eriksen as an attacking four.

Our Full backs however are a Big issue, they are not quick enough to play a back 3 with wing backs, which I think is our best formation, They are both solid average players who are simply not good enough.

Hurrah, finally somebody sees this issue. Been saying this for bloody ages, which one of you lies in bed worrying that another club are going to steal Aurier, Davies or Tripper (yes, I have misspelt that)????

Davies and Tripper are squad players.

Looks like the game from the weekend as finally made people sit up and start to question things rather than the everything is fine, Poch is marvellous and can't be criticised bollocks I see all the time.

The lunatics and for ever deluded told me Trippier is better than Walker.
Davis is more consistent than an inform Rose.
The insane told me Sanchez is better than our Belgian premier first 11 player .
Even the imbeciles sang that Townsend was Bales replacement
Dembele was as gifted as Modric.

We we will not buy anyone as good as what we had or got , but many pay those record season tickets and can rejoice in a wonderful cheese room , champagne and oyster bar , truffle bistro, new wave Scandinavian dining etc.

Never mind the bollocks

But a second striker won't help with the Kane problem. He's such an important player in the team, in the squad, for the club, that he will play those games no matter who our other striker is. No manager that I can think of would put Kane on the bench through a poor spell because they know he can suddenly turn it around and get a hattrick.

What you envision and argue for is unrealistic.

Its weird that you think improving Llorente wont work or is not needed

The trouble is it has been a race to the bottom since January 2017

Walker and Rose were unstoppable, then Trippier and Davies busted a gut to challenge them, Walker and Rose had head turned and Trippier and Davies capitalized, both playing very well

Now you have a situaiton where they are first choice and are only being challenged by an erratic Aurier and a Rose who looks like he has had a lobotomy so standards get worse all round not better as no pressure

And how many trophies did we win with "Rose Tint FC"

Rose and Walker were fantastic in a 5-3-2, or a 4-2-3-1 against weaker teams. Let's not forget that they were frequently exposed in a 4-2-3-1 against stronger opposition. We play a 4-2-3-1 this year, in which the full backs have to be less attacking, and they are.

I was Kyle Walker's biggest fan, but he wanted to leave and it's a free world. There is no other Kyle Walker in the world. We just have to get over it.

Danny Rose is a snake. Better off getting rid.

I still agree that we need two new full-backs (I was the first to say Aurier was shit and took pelters for it). And also a new quality centre-forward, but I've been saying that for 10 years and I'm kind of giving up hope

I hope Poch focuses on coaching Aurier into the full back we know he can be. The guy was quality for PSG. Just needs time and to stop being a dick in the penalty area.

Last season before Rose got injured he was way ahead of Davies, but that can’t be said anymore. I think Davies deserves more credit then what he’s given.

I think we need another player to properly push Kane, that should be the main priority. Can’t see llorente staying at the club much longer, he’s been linked with a return to Spain.

It is so blindingly obvious our full backs are our weak link I cannot believe people would disagree with this? What do you want? Us season ticket holders have been asked to fork out record prices for next year. Which we have done. For me we have kept our side of the agreement. The club therefore need to now justify this and really step up to the next level. Otherwise trust me there will be huge discontent. For example what were City's weaknesses last year? They had Kolorov and Zabaletta as two ageing full backs who were being out paced on the counter attack. What did Pep do? Replace them with better more pacey options. Result? Well its there for everyone to see. Of course we haven't got the funds City have, but even so we can and should quite easily upgrade Trippier and Davies and keep them both for back up. Aurrier can fuck off as far as I'm concerned.

Funny how everyone is shouting to upgrade that position, but no one has posted any replacements so far.

Davies is a fantastic player. As I already mentioned, I don't think Rose will ever be back at his best. Sessegnon and Tagliafico are not bad, but not better than Davies at LB.

And at RB... Aurier will still be great for us. Trippier is a good RB too, just not against the top teams. Coleman, really?

They´ll demand Sessengon, and when they realise he is a child who has never played in the PL ever, in his entire life, they will demand an upgrade and ask why we didnt sign a seasoned pro

Davies requires a winger directly ahead of him to neutralise his lack of Ro
Third best defence in the country, without Toby, a 21yr old in his first ever top flight season outside of Holland and with Lloris having his worst season in five years....keep ignoring it though to the spin the popular narrative.

Maybe Jan is superman after all

Lloris being asked to sweep up us destroyed him, and it’s the managers fault.

Davies is fine, providing a proper left winger is signed to replace the width Rose offered; Leon Bailey would be perfect. At the same time, Luke Shaw would be a fantastic addition to rotate, as he also offers similar thrust going forward.

Think full backs are definitely a problem.

Can't really play 3 at the back successfully because our wing backs aren't wing backs. Davies and Trippier don't like getting forward or beating a man and when they do, they only go back and pass to the likes of Eriksen, Dembele or Dier.

Can play a back four, but still, they don't offer any outlet because when they get the ball, the crosses are either hit and hope or they pass backwards in an attempt to keep the ball. There is no bravery or aggression there. Not saying Davies isn't brave or aggressive as he has shown he is that when he puts a foot in, but in terms of attacking he's neither.

Aurier has potential in the sense that he's aggressive, relatively quick and with confidence and the right coaching is likely to attack and take on his man. Whilst his crossing is a little poor, getting himself into attacking positions and providing that outlet will cause enough problems.

It really is sad to see that we've gone from the two best wing backs in the Premier League in Walker and Rose and ended up with Trippier and Davies. Again, that's not criticising either player because they're good solid players but its meant we've tried playing the same way with inferior footballers. It's like selling Eriksen and starting Lamela (instead of buying a proper replacement) because Lamela has a bit of guile about him and can get assists.

It's no surprise that media outlets have stated we are actively scouting a left back. We need one. Preferably someone who's very quick and not afraid to attack. Pochettino will probably give Aurier one more season to see how he adapts to a pre-season, fitness regime and our style of play. Though I hope KWP also gets some games as he fits the criteria.

Priority this summer though will be:

1. CM
2. FB
3. CB

I think we'll sign a player in each one of those positions. Probably not at right back with Aurier, Trippier and KWP but we'll definitely be signing a left back, definitely a central midfielder and with Alderweireld likely to be off a centre back too.

People still view Davies as not being able to get forward, which just isn’t true. Yes he’s not as quick as Rose but he’s been great this season. He’s got the same amount of assists as Walker at City.
