Reality Check

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Personally I dont think we need signings and the squad is good enough with the right coaching.

While I am happy to improve where possible (for example Webeck IMO), there is a big difference with being open to a signing and saying "player x should never wear the shirt again and should fuck off out the club"..

The people pining after Schniederlin are forgetting that Sandro is better when in form. I would rather get him back on track....who exactly are these "new signings" that we need?

I thought Dawson was the problem with our defence. He's gone....now Kaboul should "never play another Spurs game again..." Rose "is shit after all" again....

Where does it end?
Who do people want to sign?

I dont get it. We HAVE signed players....did people expect us to sign Lahm and Costa?
I think it will be great for both Pochettino and us the fans when the window finally shuts. The starting 11 from yesterday could very well look different in a few weeks. Hopefully players like Fazio and Stambouli will bring a much needed fighting spirit to the team. I accept we can't buy world class ability, but a few less bottlers on the field wouldn't hurt.

I was sitting in the South Upper and I didn't think we were actually 'that' bad. I haven't seen any of it on TV yet so I maybe wrong.
I conceded early and that is always going to make things difficult. Yes Liverpool had the better chances but if Chadli takes his chance just before half time then we are very much back in it.
Second half starts and within minutes they dive for a penalty. As I said before, I have't seen it again but from my angle (behind the goal) it looked a clear dive. I went fucking mental. Liverpool dived for so many pens last year. Anyway thats a different story.
At 2 nil the game was done unfortunately. In my eyes the game was ruined by the ref.

Yes I was disappointed but I said at the start of the season that I expect a top 6 finish and I would be happy(ish) with that. The way I see it is that we missed the boat once Harry left. It didn't work out with AVB. It didn't work out with the players we sold. It didn't work out with most of the players we have brought. Whatever way you look at it, we have gone backwards in the last few seasons. That is something I have only this season expected.

Remember people, we only qualified for the CL once. That was when Man City were still building and Liverpool were still shit. Now City have cemented there place among the Prem elite and Liverpool have now joined them. Chelsea have got alot better and Woolich still are consistently better (that really hurt typing that). What I am saying is that the other teams around us have improved and have taken there chances. We simply haven't. The sooner people accept the fact that we are not a top four team the better. I still think top for should be our aim but I think we are honestly far away from it.

I hope you all can stay behind Poch and expect that we have dipped and it will take alot of hard work to climb the ranks again. It isn't impossible but it gets harder and harder every season.

Keep the faith.

This post is titled reality check?
Yes we had our shorts pulled down and our bottoms smacked - in public , the shame of it!
I feel like shite but I will get over it (life goes on and all that)

We have no skipper in place - a new coach - some new players and a new 'philosophy'
I'm happy to give it time-it needs time.

MELTDOWN KLAXON!

Come on lads. We lost to a good team that finished 2nd in the PL last season and have had 3 seasons of playing a certain system and buying players to fit that system. We didn't play particularly badly, Liverpool were just better than us.

No need to go into meltdown. We're 3 games in and already look better than we have done in recent seasons. At least we've been playing some entertaining football. Hopefully, we'll get a couple of players today and everything will look rosy again.

We're still gonna win the league. By 15 points.

Totally agree......apart from maybe the 15 point title win

True, we lost and didn't look good but it is 1 game. I don't think we are a top 4 team yet. We are still a top 6 side.
We still need to strengthen in areas.
City lost to Stoke on Saturday but I am pretty confident that there fans aren't saying that the end is nigh (although I do think chelski will win this year, cunts)
Things take time. 3 games does not qualify as a suitable amount of time.
The objectives from Dan have always been the same - CL football. Subsequently I believe he needs to provide the manager with the necessary tools to achieve that - else it's laughable to even consider that with players which as barely bottom 5, better yet Top 6. I.e. I want Moutinho - have Siggy instead, etc.

Nobody expects (just dreams of) Costa, Lahm, Kroos but, over a few years we have managed to move from Modric, Bale, VDV, Berbatov, Carrick, King to Vertonghen, Dembele, Lamela, Soldado, Chadli, Capoue. Now whilst the former didn't all start off well, there is plenty of cause to think the new crop will never become as technically decent or as classy as the former.

By signing Dier, Stromboli, Fabio and Yodelling for a combined £20m, it's fingers in the air really. Vorm (a sub keeper) and Davies (a sub left back at £10m) for Siggy and a few quid was only mildly pleasing because we thought any peg-leg would be better than Rose!

Collecting some cash for Dawson, Livermore, Holtby, perhaps Lennon/Towsend, Sandro/Paulinho will further blacken the bottom of that balance sheet and Levy will be happy - I doubt in truth we'll really be that much stronger in terms of overall class, just a bit more potential and easier to achieve transfer parity and profits.

Yeah, the squad isn't CL quality. Levy/Baldini need to give Poch who he wants and not who we can potentially sell on for a profit in a year or 2. Lloris, Eriksen and maybe Lamela are the only truly CL players we have

With fazio and stambloi or whatever his name is we now have a lot of options defensively and with time I think we can forge a tight backline, my main concern is the attacking third. Liverpool have balotelli, Sturridge and sterling as a front three, ade and chadli are good but not top 4 IMO and that is were we may struggle against big teams.

Let's do a swap deal, soldado for falcao, should be good then.

The problem is , even if others will not admit it to themselves is the ethos of our
once swashbuckling club. To dare is to do , sounds a lot of cock n bull in
our neo pragmatic philosophy of prudence .

Look at this another way. If your a player from abroad and you get two options.
1) Go to a team on £60-90K a week. No champions League football.
2) Go to a team on £90-120K a week. Play champions league football.
What would you expect these players to be choosing?

I am just looking at this subjectively but what can Tottenham offer these 'big' players? If we can't offer CL or big wages then why would you expect to sign the top players?

Sorry, I don't to turn this thread into another transfer discussion
