I think we can get a result away at chelsea now. I think we might pull off the great escape

The only reason West Ham got promoted via the play offs last time was Sam Allardyce and Kevin Nolan .

Who are Spurs Kevin Nolan as De Zerbi is no Allardyce

Every team will want to get one over on Spurs , it will be their cup final every week.

Promotion year two is more likely not this win league by 10 points malarkey

LOL at the idea we'll just walk the championship. Having better players isn't what gets results, particularly in leagues like the championship.

We've proved this season that supposedly good players don't equal good results if their mentality is shit and that will count double in the championship.

Nothing about our last decade of player recruitment makes me think we'll pick up the right players for the league either when some of our existing overpaid primadonnas fuck off.

We're a badly run club with bad players at the moment. That won't change immediately when we go down a league.

Don't see how we don't finish at least second with RDZ in charge and the players we'll still have at the club tbh . Looking at who's going down this season and those that may just miss out of promotion, I'd be very surprised if we don't walk the league as well as Newcastle did

Never had such a rich club been that division, not only is it unheard of in England it was probably seen as inconceivable.

I guess juves one season in SB is similar

If as owners ENIC and Levy can be so utterly useless as to get a club of our stature relegated they are quite capable of fecking up bouncing straight back Imho

This will hurt them, not winning a trophy or being competitive they couldn't care less about.
Losing out TV money and global exposure of the prem, along with the sponsorships u can negotiate ruins there investment if they're out of the big league for long

Don't see it, west h getting mentioned. But we operate in different circles financially

I just don't envision a club of this size hanging about in the championship even with the chuckle brothers at the wheel

I wish I shared your confidence, but I think their incompetence has no bounds

Going up is one thing. Staying up (especially with a Championship squad) is another.
If we couldn't attract elite players while being in the PL how can we persuade tham to join a newcomer? Our only hope is to discover hidden gems and/or our players currently on loan.

Who said that?
Sounds like you made it up.

Obviously will fuck us royally but if you consider how we've been run (lowest wages to turnover of any big club, huge reliable income from commercial stuff) we're probably in as good a position as any club to withstand this type of disaster. It's one area Levy's conservatism is actually useful.

Plus there have been plenty of big clubs that went down in far worse financial situations like Villa and Newcastle who eventually bounced back and both have been, or will be, in the Champions League within a few seasons of promotion.

It might be a long tough road, but we've got enough players to loan/sell to cover a good chunk of the losses, plus the whole relegation clause element should help us. We'll obviously suffer but any talk of insolvency or the club being in existential danger is way OTT imo, and most financial experts I've heard talk about it say the same.

The critical thing is to just not make the same mistakes, take relegation seriously, and ensure we come straight back up at the first time of asking. We'd be far better off retaining a strong enough squad to ensure promotion and taking a short term financial hit, rather than selling the crown jewels and be left with a squad of purely kids and cloggers that leaves us stuck in the Championship.

Fans have to be careful of falling into the classic ENIC trap of believing the finances are completely fucked beyond all repair and it means we can't sign anyone in the summer. That is what they will try and do. While in all reality a season in the championship will be fine but we have to spend to get straight back up. Can't mess about there. They will though of course.

With every further post you make, I'm more and more convinced you're not a Spurs fan.

Maybe. He was also 100% convinced Man Utd would beat us in the EL final. Said he couldnt see a way in which they didnt win.

Was a one off game though ; anything can happen in a one/off game .

Problem is we have four one-off games ; so rationally-based predictions may run truer over the course of them . If you get me .

But ; personally; I’m relying on the irrationality of the situation to actually save us .
